Delhi L-G TS Sandhu asks citizens to join 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign
New Delhi, Aug 11
Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu on Tuesday asked citizens to wholeheartedly join the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign and celebrate Independence Day.
In a message on X, Sandhu said, "In the spirit of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodiJi has called for every Bharatiya to hoist the Tricolour at their homes ahead of this Independence Day."
"Urge all residents of Delhi to wholeheartedly join this movement, remember the sacrifices of our courageous freedom fighters, and take a collective Sankalp to build a #ViksitBharat@2047. Let the Tricolour fly high in every home, symbolising our pride, unity and unwavering commitment to the nation. Proud to be an Indian. Jai Hind!" he said.
Earlier, New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Vice Chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal inaugurated "Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 - Art Exhibition & Live Painting Workshop" at Janpath Subway Art Gallery, Connaught Place, in association with Nav Siddharth Art Group.
After lighting the lamp and inaugurating the exhibition, Chahal said that this 10-day art exhibition organised on India's 80th Independence Day is inspired by PM Modi's Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan.
"The tricolour is not only our national flag, but a symbol of our collective pride, aspirations and unity. Prime Minister Modi's Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan has strengthened the emotional attachment to the tricolour in the minds of every citizen. Through this exhibition, NDMC is giving artists a platform to express their feelings through colours and creativity and reaching out to the people in a unique way," he said.
He said that developed India is not only about economic progress, but also about cultural awareness, national pride and public participation.
Chahal said that more than 50 works of 10 prominent artists have been displayed in this exhibition themed around the colours of the tricolour, cultural heritage of India, freedom movement and unity, diversity and sense of patriotism.
Based on the theme "Art Expression Patriotism", the exhibition offers visitors a unique artistic experience through the tricolour.
Chahal said that through their paintings and creative expressions, artists have conveyed the sentiments associated with the national flag and the feeling of a confident, vibrant and united India.

I absolutely love this campaign! As a student, it makes me feel connected to our freedom fighters. But I do wish the government would also focus on making public spaces more flag-friendly. Some housing societies have restrictions on hoisting flags due to maintenance issues. Let's make it easier for everyone to participate!
Jai Hind! This is the true spirit of Independence Day. The art exhibition at Janpath sounds amazing - 50 works by 10 artists themed around the tricolour. Will definitely visit with my family this weekend. It's a great way to teach our children about patriotism through art.
The call for Viksit Bharat@2047 is inspiring. I appreciate the L-G's message about collective Sankalp. However, I hope the government is also working on ground-level issues like civic amenities and education. Flag hoisting is symbolic; real progress needs concrete action. Still, I'll proudly hoist the flag at my home in Delhi.
Brilliant move! Har Ghar Tiranga has brought so much positivity. I'm from Kerala and even here, every house has the flag flying. The art exhibition concept is unique - using creativity to express patriotism. The NDMC should organize such events in other parts of Delhi too!
The 80th Independence Day is special. I'm glad to see the emphasis on cultural awareness alongside economic progress. The artists' work on our freedom movement will inspire the younger generation. Let's all hoist the Tiranga and remember the sacrifices of our heroes. 🇮🇳 Jai Hind!
