Delhi L-G, NDMC chief review BRICS Summit 2026 arrangements

New Delhi Municipal Council Chairperson Manoj Kumar Dwivedi called on Delhi Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu and discussed issues related to development, civic infrastructure, with a focus on strengthening the national capital's civic landscape ahead of the BRICS Summit 2026.

Taking to its official X account, the NDMC on Thursday said: "Lieutenant Governor of Delhi @LtGovDelhi and NDMC Chairman @dwivedimk_ias held discussions on the development, civic infrastructure and overall preparedness of New Delhi, with a focus on strengthening the national capital's civic landscape."

"The meeting also reviewed key arrangements for the forthcoming BRICS Summit 2026, with emphasis on seamless coordination, timely execution and maintaining high standards of civic services across the national capital. With a continued focus on making New Delhi cleaner, greener, better planned and future-ready, NDMC remains committed to strengthening the national capital's civic landscape," the civic agency said.

The meeting also reviewed key arrangements for the forthcoming BRICS Summit 2026, with emphasis on seamless coordination, timely execution and maintaining high standards of civic services across the national capital, it added.

Dwivedi on Thursday also felicitated prominent artists, in recognition of their creative contribution to special celebration of art, patriotism and the spirit of the National Flag on the occasion of closing ceremony of the 10-Day Special Group Art Exhibition of "Har Ghar Tiranga 2026" at Janpath Subway Art Gallery.

"I would like to compliment and congratulate all the participating artists for expressing their creativity, thoughts and emotions with such dedication and sincerity," he said.

"Art has a unique power to bring an individual closer to the divine, and is a profound medium of connecting with the inner self. The artworks showcased here beautifully reflect diverse philosophical and spiritual themes," he added.

Dwivedi also said that this exhibition has been organised on a modest scale, but our vision is to take it to a much larger platform by bringing together artists not only from Delhi and across India, but also from different parts of the world.

With the upcoming BRICS Summit, NDMC will explore opportunities to provide a suitable platform for showcasing the artistic expressions and cultural heritage of artists from BRICS nations and other countries, he added.

Dwivedi said that along with ensuring seamless civic services and world-class urban amenities, NDMC remains equally committed to promoting art, culture and creativity.

"We firmly believe that the true heritage of any civilisation and culture lies in its art, as art gives expression to the emotions, values, imagination and collective consciousness of society," he added.
