Delhi CM assures free DTC travel for NEET UG candidates tomorrow
New Delhi, June 20
On the eve of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test UG 2026 retest, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that all candidates will be allowed to travel free of cost on DTC buses on Sunday, and their family members will be able to wait in special cooling zones outside all 97 examination centres.
Extending her best wishes to students and their families for the medical entrance test, Chief Minister Gupta said the Delhi government has ensured that no family faces unnecessary difficulties related to transportation, heat or long waiting hours on the day of the exam.
She said that to avail free travel on DTC buses, the candidates will only need to show their valid NEET admit card to the bus conductor.
The Chief Minister said a total of 97 examination centres have been designated for the NEET examination in the city, and special cooling zones are being established by the district administration near all these centres.
She said this is the first time that special waiting arrangements have been made, keeping in mind the comfort and convenience not only of students appearing for the examination but also of their parents and family members.
Chief Minister Gupta noted that while candidates remain inside the examination halls, the concerns, heat and discomfort faced by parents waiting outside for several hours often go unnoticed.
Recognising this human aspect, the Delhi government has created cooling zones around the examination centres, where parents will have access to seating and resting facilities, along with clean drinking water, lime water, ORS, tea and first-aid support, she said.
The Chief Minister said the Delhi Government remains committed to providing every possible support and convenience to students during their education and competitive examinations.
When parents feel comfortable and reassured, it also has a positive impact on students, helping them appear for the examination with greater confidence, she said.

Good initiative but why only NEET? What about CUET, JEE, and other exams? Students from lower-income families struggle with transport costs throughout the year. This should be a permanent policy for all major competitive exams, not just a one-off gesture.
As someone who took NEET last year, I can tell you the anxiety is real. Free bus travel might seem small, but for students coming from distant suburbs like Narela or Najafgarh, it saves both money and mental peace. Godi media won't show this good work but that's okay. All the best to tomorrow's aspirants! ✨
This is a nice touch but honestly, what about the actual problems NEET aspirants face? Coaching mafia charging lakhs, paper leaks, and reservation politics. Free bus rides won't fix the systemic issues in medical education. Still, credit where it's due for thinking about the heat issue.
My daughter is appearing tomorrow and we were worried about parking near the centre. This free bus facility is such a relief for families without private vehicles. Delhi government should also ensure buses run frequently on all routes passing through these 97 centres. 🙏
Hats off to CM Gupta for acknowledging that parents wait in scorching heat! I've seen fathers sleeping on footpaths outside exam halls. The cooling zones with water, ORS and tea show empathy. My only suggestion: please also deploy medical teams near centres in case any student faints due to heat stress.
