Delhi BJP chief welcomes portal launch for Delhi Laxmi Yojana from Aug 1

Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra and General Secretary Yogita Singh on Tuesday welcomed the decision of the BJP government in Delhi to open the application portal for the "Delhi Laxmi Yojana" from August 1.
They said that with this, the Rekha Gupta government has fulfilled an important commitment made in the BJP's 2025 election manifesto in just 17 months.
Malhotra said that the people of Delhi and the country have seen how the erstwhile Arvind Kejriwal government spent 10 years promising the women of Delhi a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 but did not give them even a single rupee.
In contrast, the BJP government has not only fulfilled its promise in just 17 months but has also fulfilled the aspirations of needy women by providing Rs 2,500.
Yogita Singh said that while the Rekha Gupta government implemented the "Delhi Laxmi Yojana" right at the beginning of its tenure, thereby giving women the dignity they deserve, Arvind Kejriwal's Punjab government released one instalment of the women's honorarium just six months before the elections and used it as an election-time freebie.
In another development, Malhotra praised the Delhi government for better arrangements for water-logging during heavy rainfall.
He said on Tuesday there were no reports of any major waterlogging, and even in areas where water had accumulated, it cleared within just a few minutes after the rain stopped.
A leading private TV news channel even reported: "Where did the water on Delhi's roads disappear within 15 minutes?"
Malhotra said that, except for 2025, Delhi had been getting waterlogged every year during the monsoon with even a little rainfall for the past 27 years. However, the BJP government led by Rekha Gupta has almost freed Delhi from the problem of waterlogging.
The Delhi BJP President said that this is the result of robust planning by the Delhi Government and civic administration, along with the hard work of the employees of the Delhi Jal Board and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
He commended the Delhi Jal Board and MCD employees for their hard work in preventing waterlogging.
Malhotra said that due to the relentless efforts of the Rekha Gupta government, improvement is visible in 75 per cent of Delhi on Tuesday. Delhiites should remain assured that after 2027, prolonged waterlogging during the monsoon will become a thing of the past.

Let's see if they actually deliver on time and without corruption. Kejriwal's AAP also started with good intentions but lost the plot. Hope BJP learns from those mistakes and maintains transparency in the Laxmi Yojana disbursement.
As a Delhiite, I'm cautiously optimistic. The waterlogging improvement is noticeable--my area in South Delhi used to flood every monsoon, but this year it's much better. Hope they can sustain the momentum for all infrastructure projects. 🙏
Good for women empowerment. But let's not forget that this is just one scheme. We need better schools, hospitals, and employment opportunities. Freebies alone won't solve Delhi's problems. Focus on long-term development, please!
My mother is a widow and she's been waiting for something like this for years. Rs 2,500 per month will help her with medicines and basic needs. BJP may have delayed, but at least they are delivering. A big relief for many families! ❤️
The waterlogging part is interesting. I've lived in Delhi for 30 years and every monsoon was a nightmare. This year, even after heavy rain, roads cleared quickly. Maybe the new govt is actually doing something right! Let's give credit where it's due.
