Actor Daryl McCormack has joined the cast of Apple TV's upcoming untitled thriller series starring Dakota Fanning and Stellan Skarsgard, according to Deadline.

The series is created by Emmy-winning creator Alex Cary, known for projects like A Spy Among Friends and Homeland. Backed by Sony Pictures Television, the show follows an undercover Treasury agent played by Fanning, who infiltrates a powerful international conglomerate with far-reaching political and criminal links. As her mission unfolds, her character finds herself conflicted when she begins to believe that her main target--the heir to the empire--may not be as corrupt as he appears.

McCormack will play Kar, the reluctant heir to the conglomerate, while Skarsgard will portray its head, Brandt.

The series will be executive produced by Cary under his FLW Productions banner, along with Julie Gardner, Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning, and Brittany Kahan Ward. Kari Skogland will direct and also serve as executive producer, with Amy Kaufman attached as EP, according to Deadline.

McCormack, an Irish actor, gained recognition for his role opposite Emma Thompson in Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, earning BAFTA and IFTA nominations. He was recently seen in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, part of Rian Johnson's popular whodunit franchise.

His upcoming projects include Cry to Heaven, directed by Tom Ford, and a Netflix adaptation of Pride and Prejudice by Dolly Alderton, according to Deadline.

Another series about corrupt conglomerates and undercover agents... feels a bit done before. But the cast is solid, especially Stellan Skarsgård. Hope the writing is fresh. The creator's work on Homeland was good, so there's hope.

Daryl McCormack was brilliant in *Leo Grande*! Good to see him getting bigger international projects. The Indian OTT space could learn from how these global shows are packaged with such strong talent both in front and behind the camera.

Interesting to see the Fanning sisters both producing! The premise reminds me a bit of *Mr. Robot* or *Ozark* but from a Treasury agent's POV. Hope it has more depth than just a standard thriller. The political links angle could be timely.

With Sony backing it, the production value should be high. But honestly, as an Indian viewer, I wish our platforms would greenlight more original, high-concept thrillers like this instead of endless remakes and sequels. The talent is here!

The 'heir not as corrupt' storyline is a nice twist. In our own context, it makes you think about business families and legacy. Hope they handle the complexity well and don't make it black and white. Will add it to my watchlist! 👍
