Cultural Diplomacy: German delegation attends Shiv Mahapuran Katha in Gujarat

Gujarat, May 24

A German delegation paid a visit to the Deendayal Port Authority, where it also attended the Shiv Mahapuran Katha organised on the occasion of Purushottam Maas at the Port's township, strengthening global friendships through culture, spirituality and shared values.

During their visit to DPA Kandla, the German Delegation on Saturday also attended the sacred Shri Shiv Mahapuran Katha being organised on the auspicious occasion of Purushottam Maas at DPA's Port Township, Gopalpuri, Gandhidham by Gopalpuri Saarvajanik Mitra Mandal.

The delegation saw a beautiful reflection of India's timeless traditions and spiritual heritage, welcoming the world with warmth and reverence.

As the Deendayal Port continues to make strides across several sectors, the Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla, on Tuesday signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GH2 Solar Limited to conduct a "Joint Feasibility Study & Strategic Roadmap" for the export of Liquid Green Hydrogen from the port.

The initiative aims to enhance sustainable maritime operations by establishing a strategic framework for green energy logistics at the port.

"Powering the future of clean energy Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla has signed a landmark MoU with GH2 Solar Ltd. for a Joint Feasibility Study & Strategic Roadmap to enable Liquid Green Hydrogen Export from Kandla Port. A significant stride towards positioning #DPAKandla as India's Green Hydrogen Hub and advancing sustainable, future-ready maritime operations," the Deendayal Port Authority posted on X.

Earlier on April 30, the DPA, Kandla, signed a strategic MoU with the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) India to promote research and develop actionable strategies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and air pollution from port and shipping operations, according to DPA Kandla.

The collaboration will focus on developing scalable solutions across ships, cleaner fuels, port logistics and in-port equipment, to support India's transition towards a low-carbon maritime ecosystem at Kandla Port in Gujarat.

The partnership is expected to strengthen sustainability-focused innovation in port operations and contribute to improving environmental performance in maritime trade activities.

Meanwhile, in March, Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, inspired by the spirit of the "Seva Sankalp Resolution" adopted by the Union Cabinet, reaffirmed its commitment to the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The resolution was read out by Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh, Deputy Chairman Nilabhra Dasgupta, along with Heads of Departments and senior officials. The Chairman said DPA remains committed to the development of India's maritime sector and its emergence as a global hub in the green energy transition.

"In line with the Seva Sankalp Resolution, DPA reiterates its commitment and accountability towards the development of India's maritime sector and rise as a global hub in the green energy transition," the statement said.

As someone from abroad, I love seeing this cultural exchange. It's a beautiful blend of spirituality and modernization. India is showing the world how to balance timeless traditions with green innovation. The MoUs on green hydrogen and emissions are exactly the kind of forward-thinking steps we need globally

Great to see Germany engaging with India on both spiritual and industrial levels! But I must say, I hope our government also focuses on improving local infrastructure in Kandla—the port still needs better road connectivity for locals. Still, proud of how Gujarat is hosting international delegations with such warmth 🙏

Purushottam Maas is considered the most holy month in Hindu calendar, and to see German delegates participating in Shiv Mahapuran Katha is truly heartwarming. This is how we build bridges—through culture and spirituality. Also, green hydrogen export from Kandla? That's a game-changer for India's economy! 🇮🇳

Impressive to see Deendayal Port not just focusing on trade but also embracing cultural diplomacy. The Seva Sankalp Resolution aligning with Viksit Bharat 2047 shows a long-term vision. However, I'd like to see more transparency on how these green hydrogen projects will benefit local communities and jobs in Gujarat

Love seeing Germany here! They've always appreciated Indian philosophy. This visit is a win-win: we showcase our spiritual richness while also pitching green hydrogen deals. But I do wish media covered more about the actual Shiv Mahapuran Katha itself—it's our ancient wisdom, not just a photo op. Still
