Under the MOU between Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers' Association, between 15 and 18 female players are eligible to be centrally contracted, as per the Cricket.au website.

Fast bowlers Chloe Ainsworth and Lucy Hamilton have come in on their first national contracts, and Nicola Carey remains on the list after earning an upgrade during Australia's recent tour of the West Indies.

Alyssa Healy (retired), Tayla Vlaeminck and Tess Flintoff were not renewed from last season's list.

Australia's first assignment of the 2026-27 contract period will be the T20 World Cup in England, where they will be desperate to claim the silverware following shock semi-final losses in the past two ICC tournaments.

Interesting to see Healy retired and not on the list. End of an era. Australia will be our biggest rival in the upcoming T20 World Cup in England. Our Indian women's team needs to be ready for that challenge. The focus should be on building similar depth.

Four major T20 tournaments back-to-back? That's insane scheduling. Olympics in LA 2028 will be huge for women's cricket globally. Hope the Indian team gets a long camp to prepare. The Aussies are always so well-managed by their board.

As a cricket fan living in India, I appreciate how transparent CA is with their contract announcements. The list looks balanced. Perry is still going strong! Respect for their system, though I wish our WPL got as much mainstream news coverage here.

They have a T20 World Cup in Pakistan in 2028? That's noteworthy. On topic, the Aussie women's team sets the benchmark. Our Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana need to lead the charge against this powerhouse. The rivalry is good for the sport.

Good to see young fast bowlers getting contracts. Pace is crucial. I do think, respectfully, that the article could have mentioned how many players are of color or from diverse backgrounds in the squad. Representation matters everywhere, not just in India.
