Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited will observe National Electrical Safety Week from June 26 to July 2 in accordance with the directives of the National Safety Council and the Central Electricity Authority.

CPDL officials said the organisation remained committed to promoting a strong culture of safety and preventing electrical accidents through continuous awareness and training initiatives.

Finally, some focus on practical safety. In Chandigarh, we have decent infrastructure, but many old buildings still use shoddy wiring. These pamphlets and WhatsApp messages should reach every household, including tenants. I hope they also check illegal hook-ups that cause overloads.

Interesting to see how Indian utilities approach safety. Back home in the US, OSHA and NFPA regulate this heavily, but community awareness weeks like this can be very effective if done properly. The mock drills for staff are a great idea—preparedness beats panic anytime.

CPDL is doing decent work in Chandigarh, but let's be honest—electricity theft and unauthorized connections are still major issues in some pockets. Safety week is good, but enforcement of compliance needs to be year-round. Also, hope they train the contractual staff properly; they are often the ones handling live wires without proper gear.

A much-needed step! My father works in power distribution and he's seen too many accidents due to negligence. The theme 'Competency, Compliance and Caution' sounds perfect for India. Just wish they would also check safety of streetlights and public electrical boxes—some are dangerously exposed near parks. 🌧️⚡

Great to see a structured safety campaign. In Australia, we have similar weeks run by energy regulators, and they significantly reduce incidents. The WhatsApp distribution is smart—that's how most Indians consume info now. Hope they also share videos in Hindi and Punjabi for wider reach.
