CM Yadav to attend 'Krishi Manthan' at Agriculture University in Jabalpur
Jabalpur, April 8
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will be attending the state-level 'Krishi Manthan 2026' programme to be held at the Agriculture University in Jabalpur district on Wednesday.
The initiative, which is part of the BJP government's 'Krishi Varsh 2026' agenda is aimed at strengthening the agriculture sector through infrastructure expansion and policy inputs.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister will inaugurate a newly-constructed administrative building developed at a cost of Rs 13 crore.
The newly-constructed building has been named after former Prime Minister, late Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Officials said the 'Krishi Manthan 2026' programme will include a state-level brainstorming workshop focussed on aligning agricultural research, extension services, and market access as part of the 'Krishi Varsh 2026' road map. The discussions are expected to feed into policy planning for improving productivity and farmer income.
A training programme for 1,000 'Krishi Sakhis' will also be launched during the event. The initiative is aimed at strengthening last-mile agricultural extension and promoting natural farming practices at the grassroots level.
Senior members of the state Cabinet, including Deputy Chief Ministers Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla, along with ministers Aidal Singh Kansana, Rakesh Singh, Prahlad Singh Patel and Lakhan Patel, are scheduled to attend.
The visit comes as the state government steps up its focus on agriculture-led growth through targeted investments and institutional strengthening under 'Krishi Varsh 2026'.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister will also inaugurate some completed development projects related to infrastructure and he will also lay the foundation of new projects.
These include the administrative building of the Sugarcane Research Centre in Bohani, built at a cost of Rs 1.11 crore, a Skill Development Centre at Balaghat Agricultural University costing Rs 1 crore, and an Automated Liquid Bio-fertilizer Production Centre in Jabalpur constructed at a cost of Rs 1.26 crore.
Additionally, four units of the Department of Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development, with a combined outlay of Rs 4.92 crore, will be dedicated.

Rs 13 crore for an admin building? While infrastructure is needed, I hope the bulk of the 'Krishi Varsh' budget goes directly to farmer support, irrigation, and seeds, not just more offices. The bio-fertilizer centre sounds more practical.
Training 1000 Krishi Sakhis is a brilliant step. Women in villages are often the real managers of farm resources. Empowering them with knowledge about natural farming can revolutionize our agricultural practices. More power to them! 💪
As someone working in agri-tech, aligning research with market access is the key. Hope this 'Manthan' brings together farmers, scientists, and traders for real solutions, not just a photo-op. The skill development centre is a good start.
My father is a farmer in Sehore. These workshops sound great on paper, but will the new policies help when unseasonal rain destroys the crop? Need concrete insurance and compensation schemes, not just buildings and meetings.
Jabalpur Agri University is a good venue. MP has the potential to be India's food bowl. Focus on sugarcane research and bio-fertilizers shows they're thinking about specific local needs. Hope the CM's visit brings sustained attention.
