"The objective is to provide affordable electricity to all. - Chief Minister Mohan Yadav"

Bhopal, April 15

Stressing strict timelines and faster execution, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Wednesday directed officials to accelerate renewable energy schemes, with a clear focus on delivering affordable electricity to both farmers and citizens in the state.

During a review meeting of the New and Renewable Energy Department at his office on Wednesday, the Chief Minister said that achieving energy security requires disciplined implementation and accountability.

"The objective is to provide affordable electricity to all. Departments must fix timelines and ensure that targets are achieved within the stipulated period for faster and effective results," Chief Minister Yadav said.

He emphasised that expanding solar infrastructure -- especially among farmers -- will play a key role in reducing power costs and ensuring uninterrupted supply.

He set a target of connecting over two lakh farmers with solar pumps within the current financial year and asked officials to extend full support to beneficiaries.

The Chief Minister also called for scaling up the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana, noting that rooftop solar adoption can ease pressure on the grid while benefiting households.

Highlighting administrative efficiency, the Chief Minister instructed departments to review and enhance annual targets based on demand, ensuring that maximum beneficiaries are covered in the shortest possible time.

CM Yadav further underlined the need to strengthen coordination in key projects, including the proposed 2,000 MW renewable energy park in Morena, and said the state's interests must remain a priority.

Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister also pointed out that urban local bodies can boost revenues through better waste management and solar initiatives, directing that a training programme be organised in Bhopal to build their capacity.

Officials informed that solar energy projects are being expanded rapidly across the state, with a strong push to increase installations and improve access to reliable, low-cost power.

Affordable power for all sounds great, but execution is key. We've heard similar announcements before. The focus on strict timelines is good, but will there be transparency in beneficiary selection for the solar schemes? And what about maintenance support after installation? The plan needs to be foolproof.

The Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana push is much needed. My cousin in Indore got a rooftop system and his electricity bill has almost vanished. More awareness camps are required so middle-class families can understand the subsidy process and long-term savings. Good move, CM sahab!

Interesting to see the link between waste management and solar initiatives for urban bodies. Generating revenue while going green is a smart strategy for sustainable city development. The training program in Bhopal could be a model for other states as well.

The 2000 MW park in Morena is a massive project. While renewable energy is the future, I hope the land acquisition and environmental impact are handled sensitively. It shouldn't become a burden for the local communities. The state's interest must include the people living there.

As a citizen, reliable and affordable power is all we ask for. Summer is here and load-shedding is a nightmare. If solar expansion can truly ensure uninterrupted supply, I'm all for it. Hope this review meeting leads to actual ground-level changes and not just files moving in the secretariat.
