Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong on saturday highlighted a significant rebound in international mobility, noting that China's borders have become increasingly busy as foreign travel continues to accelerate.

According to the latest data for the first quarter of 2026, the country has seen a double-digit surge in both inbound and outbound traffic.

The figures underscore a robust recovery in global exchanges, driven by simplified visa policies and a renewed interest in cross-border trade and tourism.

Xu said in a post on X, "More foreign friends are traveling to and from China. Q1 2026 saw 185 million inbound and outbound trips (+13.5% from the previous year), including 21.33 million by foreign visitors (+22.3% YoY)."

Next up- Mumbai. Jai Hind Jai Bharat."

IndiGo commenced its inaugural daily, nonstop service between Kolkata and Shanghai, marking another significant milestone in strengthening air connectivity between India and People's Republic of China. Positive step, but let's be realistic. The growth in travel is welcome, but we must ensure our own tourism sector gets a boost too. Hope this leads to more Chinese tourists visiting India's historical sites, not just our people going there.

Direct flights are always better! Saves so much time and hassle. Waiting for the Mumbai connection now. This will be great for the tech industry especially, with so many collaborations between Bengaluru and Shanghai.

Interesting data. A 22.3% increase in foreign visitors to China is significant. While connectivity improves, I hope it's a two-way street and travel becomes easier for Indians as well, with transparent visa processes.

Good for trade, but we must be strategic. Increased travel should translate to better people-to-people understanding and stronger economic ties that benefit India. Jai Hind!

As someone from Kolkata, this is fantastic! No more connecting through Delhi or Bangkok. Can finally plan that family trip properly. Hope IndiGo and Air India keep expanding this network.
