Chennai, June 8

Actor Chethan Cheenu, who has done risky action sequences in director Shankar Sarathi's upcoming action thriller 'Valluvan', has now disclosed tothat while shooting for a particular dangerous stunt sequence in the film, he felt for a minute that he was about to die.

In an exclusive interview to IANS, Chethan Cheenu, who is also playing the lead in well known producer K T Kunjumon's 'Gentleman 2', said, " 'Valluvan' is based on a real life incident. I have done the stunt sequences in this film without a body double. Two sequences were risky."

He went on to disclose,"There's is an interrogation sequence in the film. I look to escape from those pursuing me and jump out of a building. For this sequence, I had to jump from the fifth floor and it was a risky shot. I did it. The other shot was the one in which I felt as if I would die for a minute."

Going on to give details of the risky shot, he said, "They put me in a blue drum and shut it. Then they smoked the drum. I felt suffocated and I thought for a minute that I was about to die. They never told me that they were going to let smoke into the drum."

The experience, the actor said, left him rattled but then he said, he was happy the shot had come out well.

The film, which is based on the essence of four couplets from the classic Tamil language text, is based on a real incident.

Ashna Zaveri plays the lead along with Chethan Cheenu in this film, which also features a host of actors including Sai Dheena, Prem Kumar, Mesa Rajendran and Karate Raja among others.

Produced by Shylekumar Rajendran under the Aarupadai Productions, the film has been written and directed by Shankar Sarathi and has editing by San Lokesh. The film, which is slated to release on June 12, has cinematography by Suresh Bala and music by Ashwath.

Real dedication, but I'm a bit concerned about safety standards on set. Not telling the actor about smoke in the drum is risky. What if something went wrong? Yes, the shot came out well, but protocols matter. Still, Chethan's spirit is inspiring. Hope the film does well! 🙏

Jumping from fifth floor without double? That's some serious commitment! Reminds me of the old days when actors like Rajinikanth did their own stunts. Chethan is proving his mettle. The real-life inspiration for the story makes it even more interesting. Gentleman 2 also in pipeline - busy man! 🔥

Interesting that the film is based on couplets from classical Tamil literature. Love when filmmakers blend tradition with modern action. Chethan's honest account of nearly losing his life is a sobering reminder that stunts aren't just about showing off - they are real risks. Ashna Zaveri pairing will be fresh! 👌

Respect for the actor, but the director should have been more transparent about the smoke scene. That could have turned into a serious accident. Safety first, yaar. Still, I'm intrigued by the premise - four couplets from a classic text? That's a unique angle. Will watch for sure! 🎥
