Rs 25 crore sounds good on paper, but is it enough for the entire state? Uttarakhand has vast farmlands bordering forests. The government must ensure this is just the first installment and more support follows. The intent is positive though.

This is a welcome step. But alongside fencing, we need a long-term solution for human-wildlife conflict. Animals come because their corridors are blocked or food sources are scarce. Development as well as Heritage should mean protecting both farmers and forests.

As someone who loves visiting Uttarakhand, it's heartening to see the centre and state working together on this. Farmers are the backbone, and their security is paramount. Hope this also reduces negative encounters with animals, making it safer for everyone.

Good move. But the release mentions "Matrishakti" and self-employment for women. I hope part of this fund creates opportunities for local women's self-help groups to be involved in making or maintaining these fences. That would be true empowerment.

Approval is one thing, ground reality is another. In our village, the previous scheme's fences were of poor quality and broke in a season. The government must have strict quality checks and involve gram panchayats in monitoring. Jai Kisan!
