Manchester, May 17

Manchester United secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest in a high-intensity English Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Sunday evening, with skipper Bruno Fernandes marking a historic individual milestone by equalling the Premier League record for most assists in a single season.

The Portuguese midfielder played a decisive role in United's win, registering an assist for Bryan Mbeumo's goal as part of a dramatic encounter that saw both sides exchange blows throughout the 90 minutes. Fernandes' creative contribution took his season tally to 20 assists, placing him alongside legendary names in Premier League history.

With this achievement, Fernandes has now matched the record held jointly by Kevin De Bruyne (2019/20) and Thierry Henry (2002/03), who also recorded 20 assists in a single campaign.

"Everyone knew that it was important that I could get another assist at least," Fernandes told Sky Sports after the match. "They (my teammates) have been trying everything that they can to score from my passes.

"There were probably moments today that I should have passed instead of shot, and still I got the shot, but I'm very happy for this assist."

Coming to the Man United vs Forest clash, the hosts took an early lead through Luke Shaw, but Forest fought back twice via Morato and Morgan Gibbs-White, while Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo ensured the hosts edged a closely contested encounter.

The match also marked Casemiro's final appearance for Manchester United, bringing an end to his stint at the club after several key contributions, including cup final triumphs and his most prolific league season.

Man Utd midfielder Casemiro said as quoted by Premier League, "I start with thank you very much to everyone, the players, the staff, but thank you everyone, but the best thing in this club is you, fans, you - thank you."

With the win, United strengthened their position in the Premier League table at third position, while Forest continued to struggle near the lower half of the standings.

Bruno equals De Bruyne and Henry! That's elite company. But let's be honest, Casemiro leaving is a big blow. His experience and that calmness in midfield will be missed. Proper legend he is, saying goodbye like that. Thanks for everything, Casemiro! 🙏

As a neutral fan, this was a cracking game! End-to-end stuff. Forest really gave them a scare. But United just about did enough. Fernandes is on fire this season. That assist record is massive. Also, nice to see Casemiro get a proper send-off from the fans. Class act. 👏

Happy for Bruno, but honestly, I think this record shows how much the team relies on him. Where's the creativity from others? He's doing it all alone sometimes. And that defence... chalo, at least we got the win and are third. But long way to go. #GGMU

Forest fought hard, respect to them! Gibbs-White is a proper player. But United's quality showed in the end. Bruno Fernandes is a magician! 20 assists, wow! He's been our best player this season without a doubt. And Casemiro's farewell speech was emotional. All the best, legend! 🌟

I'm not a United fan, but you have to appreciate what Fernandes is doing. 20 assists in any season is top-drawer. That said, United are still a work in progress. They can't keep relying on individual brilliance. Forest showed their weaknesses. Still, an entertaining match and a
