The 6th edition of the BRICS CCI Women Empowerment Annual Women's Summit & Felicitations 2026 emphasised the need to move "from dialogue to action" in advancing women's leadership in innovation, science and entrepreneurship.

Addressing the summit, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse reiterated the government's vision of inclusive growth, stating that women empowerment remains central to India's development journey.

"India's vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 is firmly rooted in inclusive growth, with women empowerment as a central pillar. India's youth and women together form the backbone of a progressive nation," she said.

The three-day summit, organised by the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry Women Empowerment Vertical (BRICS CCI WE), was held from March 21 to 23 on the theme "Women in Innovation, Science Leadership, Innovation & Entrepreneurship (WISE) - Inspiring Change, Shaping Tomorrow."

The summit brought together global leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs and innovators to discuss cross-border collaboration and women-led growth.

The WISE initiative, launched during the BRICS WBA Annual Plenary Meeting in Rio de Janeiro in July 2025, aims to build global partnerships and support women in leadership roles.

Great to see India hosting and leading such conversations on a BRICS platform. The focus on science, tech, and entrepreneurship is crucial for our development goals. However, I hope this isn't just another summit with lofty speeches. The real test is whether these policies reach women in tier 2 and 3 cities and rural areas.

Debjani Ghosh's point hits home. Diversity numbers are a start, but true empowerment is about shaping the rules of the game. When women are in rooms where policies on tech, finance, and trade are made, that's when real change happens. More power to her!

As an expat working in Gurugram, it's impressive to see the global scale of this event. The industry visit to Nasscom's AI centre shows a practical approach. Building ecosystems is key. Hope the partnerships formed here lead to tangible cross-border projects for women entrepreneurs.

While the intent is good, I have a respectful criticism. These summits often feel like echo chambers for the urban elite. The article mentions "inclusive growth" repeatedly, but where are the voices of women from MSMEs, artisans, or farmers? Empowerment must be broad-based to truly count.
