BJP's 81 pc winning rate in Assam a historic mandate: MLA Manab Deka

BJP MLA Manab Deka calls the party's 81% winning rate in Assam Assembly polls an unprecedented mandate, citing grassroots work and clean governance.

"The people have voted overwhelmingly in favour of the BJP. If you look at the results of all 126 Assembly constituencies, our winning percentage is around 81 per cent. - Manab Deka"

Guwahati, May 10

BJP MLA from Assam's Lakhimpur constituency, Manab Deka, on Sunday said that the party's overwhelming performance in the Assembly polls reflects unprecedented public support for the BJP and its governance model in the state.

Speaking to reporters after the BJP Legislature Party meeting in Guwahati, Deka said the BJP secured an "unprecedented" mandate with an impressive winning rate of around 81 per cent in the 126-member Assam Assembly.

"The people have voted overwhelmingly in favour of the BJP. If you look at the results of all 126 Assembly constituencies, our winning percentage is around 81 per cent. Such a victory rate is very rare in India's political history," Deka said.

He attributed the NDA's landslide victory to collective organisational efforts, strong booth-level management, clean governance and development-oriented politics under the BJP leadership.

"This success is the result of our collective effort. Every booth-level worker and every party functionary contributed immensely. If you interview our booth workers, you will understand how systematically and efficiently the BJP functions," he said.

Deka also stressed the importance of grassroots political work, saying electoral success cannot be achieved merely through social media campaigns.

"Politics cannot run only through Facebook or social media. To succeed in politics, one has to work at the grassroots level, strengthen booth committees and remain connected with the people," the BJP legislator remarked.

He further said that the BJP government's focus on transparent administration, welfare schemes and infrastructure development played a key role in securing public confidence.

Taking a swipe at the Congress, Deka questioned whether the BJP needed validation from a party that had suffered a crushing defeat in the elections.

"The Congress has been reduced significantly in the Assembly. We do not need a certificate from them after such a mandate from the people," he said.

The BJP-led NDA is set to form the government in Assam for a third consecutive term, with Himanta Biswa Sarma poised to take oath as Chief Minister for the second successive term.

Impressive numbers, but I hope this majority doesn't lead to complacency. Development and governance need to continue reaching every village, especially in remote areas. The real test will be in delivery over the next five years. 🤔

Well said, Mr. Deka. The Congress has lost touch with the people at the booth level. BJP's organizational strength is unmatched. But I'd caution against overconfidence - the opposition needs to be strong for democracy to thrive. Balanced perspective needed.

"Politics cannot run only through Facebook" - absolutely true! This is a lesson for all young politicians who think social media is the be-all and end-all. Ground work matters. BJP has shown that in Assam. Jai Hind! 🇮🇳

Respectable achievement, but I have one concern - when one party dominates this much, dissent within the party gets suppressed. We need healthy internal democracy too. Otherwise, it becomes a one-man show. Let's hope the Assam government ensures inclusive growth.

As someone from Assam, I've seen the change - roads, electricity, education access have improved. But we also need better healthcare facilities in the tea gardens and rural areas. The mandate gives BJP the opportunity to focus on these. Hope they deliver! 🙏
