Bhopal Police, Social Justice Department organise 'Run for Life' marathon to spread anti-drug message

The Bhopal Commissionerate organised an anti-drug marathon under the 'Run for Life - Staying Away from Drugs is Essential 2.0' campaign at TT Nagar Stadium on Sunday, with officials urging people to stay away from drugs and highlighting their harmful impact on individuals and families.
Additional Commissioner of Police (HQ and Crime) Monika Shukla said that both society and the police have a responsibility to eliminate drug abuse and ensure a healthy future for people across generations.
"This is the responsibility of society as well as the police that whether it is a new or old generation, we have to eliminate all such drugs so that we can remain healthy," Shukla told reporters.
Furthermore, Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Narcotics wing, D Srinivas Varma said the marathon was jointly organised by the Madhya Pradesh Police and the Social Justice Department under the 'Nashe se doori hai zaroor 2.0' campaign.
"Today, the Madhya Pradesh Police and the Social Justice Department have jointly organised the marathon under the banner of the 'Nashe se doori hai zaroor 2.0' campaign at the TT Nagar Stadium. Through this, we want to convey the message to every person in Madhya Pradesh: stay away from drugs, enjoy life, and say no to drugs," Varma said.
He further highlighted the serious consequences of drug addiction, saying, "Drug addiction is such a serious disease that it ruins people and families, and makes lives miserable."
The marathon was organised to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and encourage people to adopt a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.

Finally some good news from Bhopal! 😊 The message 'Nashe se doori hai zaroor' hits home. My cousin lost his scholarship because of drug use. These campaigns save lives. Hope they reach every village too.
As someone who works with addiction recovery, I appreciate this effort. But we need more rehabilitation centers and mental health support alongside awareness. Let's not just run - let's also provide real help.
Marathon is a nice symbolic gesture, but has anyone checked the drug dens in Bhopal's slums? Police need to raid those places regularly. Awareness + enforcement = real change. Still, kudos to the organizers.

Good work but I wish they had included more youth participation. College students and athletes should be ambassadors. The 'Run for Life' tagline is catchy though. Let's hope this is not just a photo op.
As a foreigner living in India, I see drug abuse as a growing problem everywhere. This marathon is a positive step. But legalization of cannabis for medical use should also be discussed -
