Assam: PM Modi visits tea garden in Dibrugarh, interacts with workers

PM Narendra Modi visits a tea garden in Dibrugarh, praises workers, and discusses BJP's prospects in the upcoming Assam assembly elections.

"Tea is the soul of Assam! - Prime Minister Narendra Modi"

Dibrugarh, April 1

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited a tea garden in Assam's Dibrugarh, interacted with workers, and plucked tea leaves during his visit to the poll-bound state.

PM Modi praised Assam's tea garden workers for their hard work and contribution, calling tea the "soul of Assam" after interacting with workers in Dibrugarh.

In a post on X, PM Modi shared images and wrote, "We are very proud of the efforts of each and every tea garden family. Their hard work and perseverance have enhanced Assam's pride. Here are some more glimpses from a tea garden in Dibrugarh."

"Tea is the soul of Assam! The tea from here has made its way across the world. This morning in Dibrugarh, I went to a tea garden and interacted with women working here. It was a very memorable experience," the post reads.

"The plucking of tea leaves was followed by the women talking about their culture and of course a selfie!" PM wrote in another post.

The polling for all 126 Assembly constituencies will be held in a single phase on April 9, while the counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.

Today, while addressing a public rally in Assam's Gogamukh, Prime Minister Modi emphasised the development of Assam under the BJP regime and described the previous ten years as an "era of service and good governance."

Prime Minister expressed confidence in achieving a "hat-trick" of victory in the state.

Meanwhile, in an indirect jibe at LoP Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, he stressed that the upcoming election will mark "century of defeats for Congress' self-proclaimed prince."

"Under the leadership of Shri Sarbananda Sonowal first, and then under the guidance of Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam has witnessed a new era of service and good governance in the past 10 years. These Assam elections are the election to build a developed Assam for a developed India. This time, a hat-trick for the BJP-NDA government is certain. And a hat-trick of defeat for Congress is also certain. And a century of defeat for Congress's self-proclaimed prince is also on the cards," said PM Modi.

Good to see the focus on Assam's pride. But I hope this interaction translates into concrete policies for better wages, healthcare, and education for the tea garden communities. Promises need action.

The timing, just before elections, is quite obvious. Every politician remembers the workers during poll season. Let's see what happens for them after April 9th.

"Tea is the soul of Assam" - perfectly said! Our tea gardens are not just plantations, they are a part of our culture and heritage. Glad the PM highlighted this.

Development claims are fine, but the focus should remain on issues like flood management and infrastructure in Assam, which affect these workers directly. Hope that's the real agenda.
