Arunachal Governor Pushes for Banking Access in Every Village

Arunachal Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik has called for expanding banking services to every village and remote habitation in the state. He emphasized that inclusive financial access is crucial for accelerating socio-economic development. The Governor advised the Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank to focus on empowering entrepreneurs, SHGs, farmers, and rural youth through credit and financial literacy. APRB Chairman Vikal Sharma briefed the Governor on the bank's operations and expansion plans.

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K.T. Parnaik on Saturday emphasised the need to expand banking services to every village and remote habitation in the state, saying that easy and inclusive access to financial services is essential for accelerating socio‑economic development and promoting financial inclusion.

A senior official of Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, said that the Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank (APRB), Vikal Sharma, called on the Governor on Saturday.

The Chairman briefed the Governor on the Bank's operations, outreach initiatives, financial inclusion programmes, and the various banking and insurance services being extended to the people of the state.

The Governor underscored the vital role of Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank in advancing inclusive growth and socio‑economic development.

Emphasising the importance of empowering local communities, he advised the Rural Bank to give special attention to aspiring entrepreneurs, start‑up ventures, Self‑Help Groups (SHGs), farmers, and rural youth by facilitating access to credit, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship support.

Lt Gen Parnaik (Retd) noted that timely financial assistance and guidance can transform innovative ideas into sustainable enterprises, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the vision of a self‑reliant and economically vibrant Arunachal Pradesh.

The Governor also encouraged the Bank to work closely with government agencies and development stakeholders to ensure that welfare schemes, livelihood initiatives, and financial inclusion programmes effectively reach the intended beneficiaries.

He expressed confidence that APRB would continue to serve as a catalyst for grassroots development and economic empowerment across the state.

The Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank informed the Governor that the Bank is extending inclusive banking services across the state through its network of 38 branches and is steadily expanding its outreach in a planned manner.

He also highlighted the adoption of modern technologies and multiple service channels to enhance access to banking and insurance services.

APRB General Manager (Vigilance) Nitul Phukan and Senior Manager Nako Taker were present during the meeting.
