Apple Redesigns Siri Icon in iOS 27 Beta 5 With Liquid Glass Look

Apple has introduced a completely redesigned Siri app icon in the fifth developer beta of iOS 27, featuring a fluid, transparent liquid glass design that mirrors the dynamic Siri glow. The update transforms Siri into a dedicated app, offering a centralized dashboard for conversation history, pinned prompts, and Apple Intelligence workflows. Several other core icons, including Preview, Safari, Settings, App Store, and Remote, have also received visual refinements with enhanced translucency and detail. This redesign aligns with Apple’s broader shift toward an AI-focused ecosystem and a cohesive liquid glass aesthetic.

Washington, August 12

Apple has completely redesigned the standalone Siri app icon in the fifth developer beta of iOS 27, giving it a fluid, transparent appearance inspired by the dynamic Siri glow users see when invoking the AI assistant.

As per The Verge, the redesign comes as Apple rolls out its new "Liquid Glass" design aesthetic across system applications as part of its transition towards an AI-focused ecosystem.

The new Siri icon moves away from previous static designs and closely resembles the dynamic Siri glow bubble. It uses layered, high-transparency visual effects to mirror the on-device Siri experience.

Siri is also becoming a dedicated app in iOS 27 rather than functioning solely as an overlay assistant. The app serves as a centralised dashboard where users can access their cross-device conversation history, pin prompts and manage deeply integrated Apple Intelligence workflows.

The fifth developer beta also brings redesigns and refinements to several other core system app icons.

Preview has been completely redesigned, featuring a high-detail physical loupe over a vibrant, colourful gradient background.

Safari now has a brighter blue backdrop, with sharper and more detailed compass lines and arrows.

The Settings and App Store icons have received deeper translucency effects, creating the appearance of overlapping layers shifting realistically as the iPhone moves.

Meanwhile, the Remote icon has been tweaked with additional physical details and now uses a neutral grey background instead of pure black.

The icon redesign is beautiful, but let's be honest – Siri still struggles with Indian accents and regional language queries. I've tried asking for directions in Hindi and it gets confused. Apple needs to focus on making Siri work better for the Indian market before worrying about aesthetics. 😅

As a developer, I love seeing Apple's design evolution. The liquid glass aesthetic is definitely inspired by the visionOS design language. It's about time they unified the design across all platforms. Can't wait to test the beta on my iPhone! The transparency effects will look stunning on the OLED displays.

The dedicated Siri app with cross-device history is actually useful for me! I use my iPhone and iPad for work, and being able to manage AI workflows from one place is great. But I'm curious about the battery impact – all these transparent effects might drain the battery faster. Hoping Apple has optimized it well. 🤔

I appreciate the design work, but honestly, the Indian market is more concerned about Siri understanding our local languages and dialects. We have 22 official languages and Apple hasn't cracked even conversational Hindi properly. The app looks nice, but let's get the basics right first. Value for money matters here.

Love how the new Siri icon mirrors the dynamic glow effect! It's these little details that make Apple stand out. The Preview app redesign with the loupe looks classy too. 🎯 Though at these price points, I hope the Apple Intelligence features work smoothly – my cousin in Bangalore has been waiting for better AI integration for years.
