'Anupamaa' fame Adrija Roy shares why genuine friendships are hard to find in showbiz
Mumbai, Aug 2
Actress Adrija Roy, who is currently seen playing the role of Raahi in 'Anupamaa', has shared her thoughts on building genuine friendships in the entertainment industry.
In an exclusive quote shared with IANS, she revealed that finding people with whom one can build trust and honesty is not always easy in the entertainment industry. Adrija admitted that she does not have many friends from the industry, adding that the competitive nature of the profession often makes it challenging to form deep and lasting bonds. She emphasised that true friendships require time, consistency, mutual respect, and sincerity.
"I don't have many friends from the industry. I'm not saying it's impossible to find genuine people here, but it's definitely not easy. This profession is naturally competitive, and trust takes time to build. Real friendships need honesty, consistency, and mutual respect."
Adrija added, "I've always believed that it's not about the number of friends you have but the quality of those friendships. My circle is actually quite small, and most of my closest friends are back in Kolkata. They're not from the entertainment industry-they're my childhood friends who have known me long before acting became a part of my life. With them, I can be completely myself, and that's something I truly value."
On the occasion of Friendship Day, she spoke about the friend who has stood by her through every phase of life. The 'Kundali Bhagya' actress shared that some bonds eventually become like family, adding that her relationship with Rimpa is one such special connection.
"She's more like my sister than my friend. We've literally grown up together, and during some of the toughest phases of my life, she never left my side. She didn't always have to say the right words or solve my problems. She simply stayed. Her constant support, unconditional love, and unwavering belief in me are things I'll never forget."
The actress also shared that maintaining relationships amid hectic shooting schedules requires consistent effort. She believes that friendships do not always need big gestures, as a simple phone call, video chat, or even a thoughtful message can help someone feel valued and remembered.
Work-wise, Adrija Roy is best known for her stint in shows like "Potol Kumar Gaanwala," "Durga Aur Charu," "Imlie," and "Kundali Bhagya."

This is a very grounded perspective. In a world of fake smiles and backstabbing, having a small circle of genuine people is worth more than a thousand acquaintances. Adrija is a wonderful actress and seems like a lovely person too.
Competition in any field can make it hard to build genuine friendships, but in showbiz it's on another level. She's right—quality over quantity. The way she talks about Rimpa is so touching. Some friendships are truly blessings. ❤️
While I appreciate her honesty, I feel the entertainment industry gets a bad rap. There are genuine bonds formed on set too—it's not all toxic competition. But I admire her perspective on keeping a close circle and not chasing fame-driven friendships.
This resonates with all of us, not just celebrities. Maintaining real friendships in a busy life is tough. She's right, it's the small efforts that matter—a call, a message. Happy Friendship Day to all the genuine friends out there! 🥂
It's sad that in an industry built on relationships and networking, genuine trust is so rare. But Adrija's approach is smart—keeping her roots grounded in Kolkata with her old friends. That's how you stay sane in this crazy business. Wishing her all the best!
