Mumbai, March 12

Anupam Kher and Boman Irani-starrer 'Khosla Ka Ghosla 2' is all set to be released this year.

On Thursday, the makers announced August 28 as the film's release date.

"20 years later...The Khoslas are back. #KhoslaKaGhosla2 In Cinemas on 28th August 2026," a post read on the official Instagram handle of T-Series.

The sequel will also feature Ranvir Shorey, Kiran Juneja, and Parvinn Dabass - the ones who portrayed the iconic Khosla family in the first film. Actor Tara Sharma, who was a part of the original film, also joined the cast for the upcoming sequel.

The original film 'Khosla Ka Ghosla', released in 2006 and directed by Dibakar Banerjee, became a cult favourite for its light-hearted story and strong performances. The film talked about issues like property scams and family conflicts in a simple yet funny way.

While talking to ANI recently, Kher expressed surprise at the movie's immense recall value and global celebration after announcing it on social media.

"I did not know the movie had such a huge recall value. As soon as I announced it on my social media, people are celebrating it all over the world, and I have never seen a movie being celebrated in such a way. It broke a special kind of cliche of Indian cinema and became so popular. This movie will surely get a good response and it will also be fun to watch. The movie will be released this year itself," said Anupam Kher.

So happy the original cast is mostly back! Ranvir Shorey and Kiran Juneja were perfect. The first film's humor was so relatable - every middle-class family in India has faced some property issue or the other. Hope the sequel keeps that simple, slice-of-life charm.

Honestly, I'm a bit skeptical. Making a sequel to a cult classic after 20 years is risky. The original was perfect. Hope they don't ruin it by making it too loud or adding unnecessary item songs. Please stick to the essence of Dibakar Banerjee's storytelling.

As someone who loved the first film while studying in Delhi years ago, this is fantastic news. It was my introduction to that specific brand of Indian middle-class comedy. Great to see it getting a sequel. Will definitely watch.

The recall value Anupam Sir mentioned is real! My parents quote that film all the time. "Jugadu" solutions to big problems is such an Indian thing. Hope the sequel captures how family dynamics and property issues have evolved in the last 20 years.

August 28, 2026 is marked on my calendar! This is the kind of content we need more of - simple, funny, and meaningful. Bollywood should make more films about common people's struggles instead of just glamour. More power to the team! 👍
