Anil Kapoor, Manisha Koirala mark 32 years of '1942: A Love Story', drop rare film BTS

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Kapoor shared that the film remains close to his heart.

"32 years later, and this film still feels as close to my heart as it did on day one. We made this film with honesty, passion and so much love. I don't think any of us knew that decades later, it would still be remembered with the same affection," he wrote.

The actor expressed delight on witnessing the film being restored in 8K with remastered sound, frame by frame.

"To see it lovingly restored in 8K with remastered sound, frame by frame, is truly special. Knowing that so much care has gone into bringing it back for a new generation makes me incredibly happy. Thank you to everyone who has carried this film in your hearts. Looking forward to seeing it back on the big screen," he added.

Reacting to the post, the official social media handle of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films commented, "Thank you for giving us a character and performance that continues to live on after 32 year."

Actor Mona Singh also reacted to the milestone, calling the film a "classic."

Anil Kapoor also shared a string of rare BTS moments captured during the film's shooting. The pictures show Kapoor alongside his co-stars Manisha Koirala, Jackie Shroff, and Anupam Kher among others.

Likewise, Manisha Koirala also penned a heartwarming message, celebrating the "timeless tale of love, hope, sacrifice, and patriotism, it continues to live on across generations."

"Thirty-two years ago, 1942: A Love Story found its way into our hearts. A timeless tale of love, hope, sacrifice, and patriotism, it continues to live on across generations," further expressing delight on the film's upcoming re-release after 8K restoration.

Directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, '1942: A Love Story showcased the love story of Naren Singh (Anil Kapoor) and Rajjo Pathak (Manisha Koirala) against the backdrop of social and political unrest amid India's revolutionary movement in the 1940s.

While Anil Kapoor as Naren Singh played the role of an apolitical son of a British colonial employee, Manisha Koirala as Rajjo Pathak was cast as the daughter of a freedom fighter.

Besides actors' performance, the film is still being remembered for its songs such as 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha To Aisa Laga'.
