'Ambedkar's ideals continue to inspire nation': MP CM Mohan Yadav pays homage at Mhow memorial
Indore, April 14
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Tuesday that B.R. Ambedkar laid a strong foundation for India's democratic system through the Constitution, and his ideals continue to guide the nation.
He urged people to follow Babasaheb Ambedkar's path of equality, social harmony, and unity to build an inclusive society.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing a gathering on the occasion of Ambedkar's 135th birth anniversary during his visit to the grand memorial built at his birthplace in Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow).
Earlier, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav visited the memorial complex and offered floral tributes to the statue of Dr. Ambedkar.
He also paid respects at the site where an urn containing Babasaheb's ashes has been preserved, a place considered highly sacred by followers.
The Chief Minister toured the premises and reviewed arrangements as a large number of devotees and Buddhist monks gathered to mark the occasion.
The memorial at Mhow, developed at Ambedkar's birthplace, has become a major pilgrimage site, attracting visitors from across the country, especially on his birth anniversary.
Across Madhya Pradesh, several programmes such as rallies, wreath-laying ceremonies, and public gatherings are being organised with enthusiasm to commemorate the day.
Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur, State Water Resources Minister Tulsiram Silawat, and BJP MLA Usha Thakur, along with other public representatives, were present during the event.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari also visited Mhow and paid tribute to Dr. Ambedkar.
Speaking to the media, Patwari alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was engaging in politics in the name of Ambedkar and raised concerns over issues related to the Constitution, reservation, and social justice.
The occasion saw a blend of devotion and political reactions, as leaders across party lines paid homage to one of India's foremost architects of democracy.

Good to see the memorial at Mhow getting the attention it deserves. It's become a true place of pilgrimage. My family visited last year and the sense of history is profound. More such sites celebrating our nation builders should be promoted.
While paying respects is important, Jitu Patwari has a point. There's often a gap between the rhetoric on Ambedkar Jayanti and the actions taken throughout the year on issues like reservation and social justice. The Constitution needs active protection, not just ceremonial praise.
The true tribute to Babasaheb is to educate our children about his struggle and his monumental work on the Constitution. Let's make sure his teachings of fraternity and constitutional morality are part of school curriculums everywhere.
Seeing Buddhist monks and devotees gather is a powerful image. Ambedkar's conversion was a profound statement against caste hierarchy. His life is a guide for building a society based on merit and humanity, not birth.
As someone relatively new to India, learning about Dr. Ambedkar has been fascinating. The architect of the world's largest democracy deserves global recognition. This memorial seems like a fitting tribute to his legacy.
