Bengaluru, April 14

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will return to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, where they will host Lucknow Super Giants in their upcoming IPL fixture.

The side comes into the contest in fine form, having secured a convincing 18-run victory over the Mumbai Indians in their previous outing. RCB currently sit third on the points table, with six points accumulated from four matches, along with the highest net run-rate in the competition.

The fixture also marks the start of a key phase for the defending champions, who are set to play three consecutive matches at home.

The right-arm pacer, Rasikh Salam Dar, was among the positives from the previous outing, finishing with figures of 1/23.

"It was an important victory for the side, and we are feeling confident as a unit. We have clarity in our roles and what we need to do, and we are looking forward to playing at home tomorrow," he said.

Reflecting on his return to IPL action after a gap, he added, "I was playing an IPL game after a while, but the process remained the same. The work we've put in over the last year was all about preparing for match situations, and in the last game, I focused on executing my plans."

Rasikh is part of an experienced bowling unit that includes the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, and Krunal Pandya.

Reflecting on his role within the team and the presence of Hazlewood, he said, "I always want to help the team. Hazlewood is a big legend and an important part of the team. I always try to contribute wherever I can."

RCB's destructive batter Tim David was fined 25 per cent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for violation of the IPL Code of Conduct during the marquee clash against five-time champions MI.

A statement from IPL said, "Tim David, Batter, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has been fined 25% of his match fee and has also accumulated one Demerit Point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials during Match No. 20 against Mumbai Indians (MI)."

The home stretch is crucial. Chinnaswamy is a fortress for RCB, but also a tough ground for bowlers. Rasikh's economy of under 6 in the last game was brilliant on that Wankhede pitch. Need that discipline to continue.

Tim David getting fined is not a good look. Senior players need to set an example. We can't afford such lapses in discipline, especially when the team is building momentum. Hope he learns from it.

Bowling unit looks solid on paper with Bhuvi, Hazlewood, and Krunal. But the real test is at Chinnaswamy. If Rasikh and others can keep it tight in the powerplay, we have a great chance. LSG's batting is strong though. #PlayBold

Respect for Rasikh's humble words. Learning from a legend like Hazlewood is a huge opportunity. This is what IPL is about - young Indian talent sharing the dressing room with world-class players. Wishing him the best! 🙏

Third on the table with the best NRR is a fantastic position. The next three home games could really cement a top-two spot. The team seems to have a good balance this year. Fingers crossed for no injuries to key players.
