Ujjain, April 1

Actor Akshay Kumar visited the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain early Wednesday morning to offer prayers ahead of the release of his upcoming film 'Bhooth Bangla'.

Akshay was accompanied by his mother-in-law and veteran actress Dimple Kapadia during the visit.

Soon after offering prayers, Akshay spoke to ANI about his visit and shared that he prayed not just for himself but for the entire country and his loved ones.

"It was really good... I prayed for the entire country and my family. I prayed that our country may always excel and progress," he told ANI.

The Mahakaleshwar Temple, situated on the banks of the Shipra River in Ujjain, holds immense religious significance as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

The Bhasma Aarti is one of the most revered rituals at the Mahakaleshwar Temple, performed during the auspicious Brahma Muhurta, between 3:30 and 5:30 AM.

According to temple traditions, the ritual begins with the opening of Baba Mahakal's doors in the early hours, followed by a holy bath with Panchamrit, a sacred mixture of milk, curd, ghee, sugar, and honey.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Akshay Kumar is preparing for the release of 'Bhooth Bangla', directed by Priyadarshan. The film marks their reunion after nearly 14 years. The project also features Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Jisshu Sengupta, Asrani, and Wamiqa Gabbi in key roles.

The film is backed by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Cape of Good Films and is set to release in theatres this April.

Good to see celebrities visiting temples and praying for the country's progress. The Bhasma Aarti at Mahakal is a divine experience. Hope his film does well.

While I respect his faith, it's become a bit of a pattern for film promotions. I hope the visit was genuinely spiritual and not just for publicity. The cast for the movie looks fantastic though!

Akshay-Tabu-Priyadarshan combo after 14 years! That's the real news for me. The temple visit is a nice personal touch. Excited for the film! 🎬

Mahakaleshwar is one of the most powerful Jyotirlingas. Taking blessings before a new venture is a very Indian thing to do. Jai Mahakal! Har Har Mahadev.

Interesting cultural insight. The description of the Bhasma Aarti ritual at Brahma Muhurta is fascinating. It's great he prayed for the country's progress, not just his film's success.
