New Delhi, June 16

Akasa Air on Tuesday commenced commercial operations from Noida International Airport, becoming one of the first airlines to launch services from the greenfield airport.

The carrier started direct flights between Noida and Navi Mumbai, marking a key step in its network expansion strategy and strengthening its presence in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The inaugural flight departed from Navi Mumbai International Airport at 7:25 am and arrived at Noida International Airport at 9:35 am. The return service took off from Noida at 10:15 am and landed in Navi Mumbai at 12:30 pm.

The carrier also launched direct flight to Bengaluru. The launch marks a significant milestone in Akasa Air's expansion plans as it seeks to capitalise on emerging airport infrastructure and growing demand for air travel across northern India.

The airline said its early entry into Noida International Airport aligns with its strategy of building a strong presence in key growth markets.

Anand Srinivasan, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Akasa Air, described the commencement of operations from Noida as an important milestone in the airline's growth journey.

"Our early presence at Noida aligns with our long-term strategy of building a strong network across key growth markets while supporting the development of modern aviation infrastructure. We look forward to deepening our partnership with Noida International Airport and delivering seamless, dependable travel experience to our customers in the Akasa Way," he added.

Christoph Schnellmann, Vice Chairman of Noida International Airport, said Akasa Air's arrival represents an important step in expanding travel options for passengers and enhancing regional connectivity.

" As one of the first airlines operating from the airport, Akasa Air will help create new travel opportunities and greater choice for passengers," Schnellmann added.

Nice move by Akasa Air but I wonder about connectivity from the airport to Noida city. The Jewar area is still developing. Without good metro or road links, this might not benefit as many people as hoped. Let's see how the infrastructure develops around it.

This is a game-changer for people in Noida, Ghaziabad and western UP. No more rushing to T3 or T1 for domestic flights! Akasa Air's timing of 10:15 am return is perfect for business travelers. Just hope the road from Noida Sector 18 to Jewar improves soon - currently takes almost an hour in traffic.

Finally! Tired of paying higher fares to Delhi airport and dealing with parking chaos. I hope this brings some healthy competition to IndiGo and SpiceJet on NCR routes. Akasa Air has good service but they need to fix their baggage policy - limit is too low compared to competitors.

As someone who frequently travels for work between Noida and Navi Mumbai, this is fantastic. Direct flight saves at least 2-3 hours each way versus flying from Delhi. Akasa Air's on-time performance has been decent so far. Hope they maintain that as they expand.

Good initiative but the timing could be better - 7:25 am departure from Navi Mumbai might be too early for many business travelers coming from Pune or Thane. Also, why only Navi Mumbai? Why not connect to major cities like Delhi, Chennai or even international routes? Let's see expansion plans.
