Akasa Air, India's fastest-growing airline, on Monday announced Apple Pay as a payment option on its website and mobile app, empowering international travellers with a seamless and secure payment experience for all flight bookings. Akasa Air is the first Indian carrier to enable Apple Pay for cross-border transactions, reinforcing its commitment to hassle-free customer experiences across all touchpoints.

This integration has been facilitated in partnership with Razorpay, the first Indian payment gateway to enable Apple Pay for cross-border transactions, making international bookings simpler and more reliable. Recognising payments as a vital element of the customer journey, Akasa Air has integrated Apple Pay to offer a trusted and familiar payment option that reduces drop-offs and supports smoother international bookings for global travellers.

With one-tap payments enabled through Face ID or Touch ID, Apple Pay simplifies the checkout process for customers, making flight bookings faster and more convenient for users of Apple devices. For domestic bookings, the airline continues to accept a wide range of payment instruments to ensure convenience for all customers, including UPI, credit and debit cards, netbanking, digital wallets, EMI options, and Paylater.

Good innovation, but I hope this doesn't mean they'll start ignoring UPI and other local payment options. For domestic flights, UPI is king. It's great for international travellers with iPhones, but most of India still uses Android. The focus should remain balanced.

Finally! I booked a flight to Singapore last month and the international card payment failed twice. This one-tap payment with Face ID is exactly what we need. More Indian companies should partner with Razorpay for such integrations. Makes us feel on par with global standards.

As an expat living in Delhi, this is very welcome news. Booking flights back home to the US will be much simpler now. Akasa's focus on customer experience, from the Braille menus to this, is really impressive. They are quickly becoming my preferred airline.

Good step forward for tech. But I wish they'd also focus on more direct international routes from tier-2 cities. Payment is one part of the hassle; connectivity is another. Still, the 737 MAX order shows they're planning big. Hope the fares remain competitive.

Love the initiative! The 'Pets on Akasa' feature and now this. They really understand modern travellers' needs. My question is: when will Google Pay be integrated in a similar seamless way for international bookings? That would cover a much larger user base in India.
