Ajay Devgn celebrates 20 years of 'Golmaal', teases "the fun continues to be unlimited"
Mumbai, July 14
Actor Ajay Devgn took fans on a nostalgic trip as his blockbuster comedy 'Golmaal' completes 20 years.
Marking the milestone, the actor shared a series of animated versions of the franchise's beloved characters on social media, bringing back memories of the comedy classic and wrote, "20 years since we started doing Golmaal... and the fun continues to be unlimited!"
The playful tribute celebrates the enduring legacy of Golmaal, which first hit theatres in 2006 and went on to become one of Hindi cinema's most successful comedy franchises.
Filmmaker Rohit Shetty, who has been famously helming the 'Golmaal' franchise for two decades now, also celebrated the moment.
Teasing fans ahead of 'Golmaal 5', he wrote, "It's been 20 years. Thank you for the love all these years. See you soon at the movies with GOLMAAL 5."
Back in 2006, 'Golmaal: Fun Unlimited' arrived in cinemas without massive expectations. However, what followed was something nobody really saw coming. The comedy film directed by Rohit Shetty and led by Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Sharman Joshi slowly became one of Bollywood's most loved comedy entertainers.
The film's quirky humour, chaotic situations and one-liners connected instantly with audiences. Supporting actors including Paresh Rawal, Sushmita Mukherjee and Mukesh Tiwari added even more madness to the story, making the film evergreen for an entire generation of viewers.
After the success of 'Golmaal: Fun Unlimited,' the franchise expanded with 'Golmaal Returns,' 'Golmaal 3' and 'Golmaal Again.'
While the storyline for the upcoming fifth instalment remains under wraps, director Rohit Shetty officially kicked off the shooting schedule for 'Golmaal 5'.
In March this year, Rohit Shetty announced Akshay Kumar's casting for the fifth instalment.
The promo video shows Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, and Tusshar Kapoor celebrating Sharman Joshi's return to the franchise. Later, everyone is taken by surprise when Akshay Kumar joins them.
'Golmaal 5' is produced by Rohit Shetty Picturez in association with T-Series.

Nostalgic! Golmaal was more than just a comedy; it was a cultural phenomenon for my generation. The jokes were so organic and relatable. But honestly, the later parts have lost that magic. Hoping Golmaal 5 brings back the original charm, especially with Sharman back. Can Akshay fit in? Only time will tell.
I recall watching Golmaal in a single-screen theatre in Delhi. The crowd was roaring at every dialogue of Paresh Rawal. His comic timing was legendary! But I do wish Rohit Shetty would now focus more on the original script rather than just relying on nostalgia and star power. Count me in for Golmaal 5 though! 😊
Honestly, I'm tired of these endless sequels. Don't get me wrong, I loved the first Golmaal - it was peak Bollywood comedy. But the franchise has been milked dry. And now adding Akshay Kumar feels like a desperate attempt to revive the dying franchise. Bollywood should try new original comedies instead of rehashing old formulas. Just my honest opinion.
Golmaal is such a big part of my childhood! The character of 'Lucky' and 'Madhav' still make me laugh. I'm so excited that Sharman Joshi is returning - his comic timing was the best! And Akshay joining could be a good twist. I trust Rohit Shetty knows what he is doing. Can't wait for unlimited fun again! 🥳
