New Delhi, July 27

Air India announced on Monday that it entered a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Tourism to jointly promote India as a premier global tourism destination and to strengthen the country's position as a key aviation and transit hub.

The MoU establishes a framework for coordinated initiatives across tourism marketing, trade engagement, transit tourism and visitor‑experience enhancement, the statement from Air India said.

It will leverage Air India's expanding global network and the Ministry's Incredible India branding to boost inbound tourism and global visibility.

Under the agreement, Air India and the Ministry of Tourism will collaborate on co-branded global marketing campaigns and tourism promotion across digital, social media, inflight branding, and other consumer-facing platforms.

The partnership will also explore opportunities to extend Incredible India branding across Air India's touchpoints.

The statement added the collaboration will encourage travellers to discover India's cultural, heritage, natural and experiential offerings.

"As the airline that proudly carries India in its name, Air India has a unique responsibility to showcase the country to the world and serve as an ambassador for 'new India" that is confident, vibrant, warm, and welcoming," said Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial Officer, Air India.

As Air India expands its reach that already spans five continents and welcomes more visitors to India, this partnership will put the spotlight on a nation that truly is uniquely remarkable, he added.

"With Air India serving 40 international destinations across five continents and welcoming millions of visitors to India each year, the airline's new world-class aircraft, digital platforms, inflight experiences, and global commercial presence will become powerful channels for taking the Incredible India story to travellers around the world," the company said.

Air India's network today spans North America, UK & Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia - regions that together account for nearly 95 per cent of the world's population.

Good initiative but the proof will be in execution. Air India's service standards have improved under Tata but still inconsistent. If they can't provide a world-class experience on the plane, all the branding in the world won't matter. The "Incredible India" campaign needs to match the reality.

Finally seeing synergy between aviation and tourism ministries! As someone who travels frequently, I've always felt India's potential is untapped. The co-branded campaigns on inflight entertainment and social media will showcase our diverse culture from Holi in Mathura to the serene backwaters of Alleppey. Just hope the ground infrastructure at airports keeps pace! ✈️🇮🇳

Nice to see Air India positioning itself as an ambassador for 'New India'. But the real challenge is showcasing the authentic India beyond the usual golden triangle. Tourists should also know about our thriving startup ecosystem, yoga retreats in Rishikesh, and the vibrant food scene in every city. That's the modern India we need to project!

As a tourism enthusiast, I love this! But please also focus on domestic tourism. We Indians are the biggest travelers within our own country. Special discounts for domestic routes, highlighting lesser-known gems like Majuli Island or Spiti Valley would make this partnership truly inclusive. Let's make India proud from the inside out! 🏔️🌈

As someone who visited India last year, I can say this is a smart move. The hospitality in India is unmatched, but the branding needs to be more consistent. I remember being confused about what to visit because the information online was scattered. Air India's inflight channels showing curated travel
