Air India chief executive officer Campbell Wilson steps down: Sources
New Delhi, April 7
Air India Chief Executive Officer Campbell Wilson has resigned, sources said on Tuesday.
Campbell Wilson was appointed on a five-year contract. His tenure as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Air India is scheduled to conclude in July 2027.
Campbell Wilson was appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of Air India in 2022. With over 30 years of rich experience in the aviation industry, he has worked across both full-service and low-cost carriers.
Prior to joining Air India, Wilson served as CEO of Scoot, the wholly-owned low-cost subsidiary of Singapore Airlines (SIA).
He began his career with SIA in 1996 as a Management Trainee in New Zealand. He subsequently held various roles with SIA in Canada, Hong Kong, and Japan, before returning to Singapore in 2011 as the founding CEO of Scoot, a position he held until 2016.
He then served as Senior Vice President - Sales & Marketing at SIA, where he oversaw Pricing, Distribution, eCommerce, Merchandising, Brand & Marketing, Global Sales, and the airline's overseas offices. In April 2020, he returned for a second stint as CEO of Scoot.
Wilson holds a Master of Commerce (First Class Honours) in Business Administration from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand.

With his contract running till 2027, this resignation mid-way is a bit concerning. Was there pressure from the Tata Group to show faster results? The new CEO needs to understand the unique challenges of the Indian aviation market. 🤔
Maybe it's time for an Indian CEO to take the helm again? Nothing against Mr. Wilson, but someone who understands our passenger expectations, the vast domestic network, and the ground realities at Indian airports might be better suited now.
His experience with Scoot was valuable, but turning around Air India is a mammoth task. The new leader needs a clear vision and the full backing of the Tatas. Hoping for stability and better on-time performance!
Respectfully, while his credentials are impressive, the passenger experience hasn't improved dramatically under his watch. Delays are still common, and the in-flight service is inconsistent. Perhaps a fresh perspective is needed. All the best to him.
The aviation sector is so tough right now with high fuel costs and competition. Wishing him well. I just hope my upcoming flights aren't disrupted! 🙏 The focus should remain on making Air India a world-class carrier we can be proud of.
