Adopting Babasaheb's thoughts will build harmonious, empowered, prosperous state: CM Yogi

UP CM Yogi Adityanath, in a public message ahead of Ambedkar Jayanti, urges citizens to embrace Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's ideals for an empowered state.

"Educate, organise and struggle - Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, quoted by CM Yogi"

New Delhi, April 13

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday issued a detailed public message titled 'Yogi Ki Pati', a day ahead of B.R. Ambedkar's birth anniversary, urging citizens to adopt the ideals of the Constitution's chief architect and promote education in everyday life.

In a post on X, CM Yogi wrote, "April 14 marks the sacred birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Ji... through whose vision millions of people gained the right to a life of dignity."

He added that "by embracing Babasaheb's ideals, our government is ensuring that the benefits of schemes reach every poor, deprived woman, and youth".

Expanding on this in his longer note, the Chief Minister described the occasion as "an opportunity to express our gratitude to that great personality who drafted the framework of India's Constitution."

The CM emphasised Ambedkar's intellectual depth, writing that "every word of Babasaheb is inspirational", particularly highlighting his vision in the fields of economy and education.

Quoting Ambedkar's enduring message, he wrote, "Educate, organise and struggle", and noted that Babasaheb was "among the most educated people of his time", who maintained a collection of over 35,000 books and studied for "16 to 18 hours a day".

The Chief Minister also referred to welfare initiatives in Uttar Pradesh, stating, "By adopting Babasaheb's ideas, our government is ensuring that benefits of schemes reach every poor, deprived, woman and youth", including access to housing, healthcare, sanitation, and education. He added that targeted programmes have helped "more than six crore people rise above multidimensional poverty", with continued efforts toward a "zero poverty" mission.

In a personal appeal, CM Yogi urged citizens, "Keep good books in your homes, read them yourselves, and inspire your children to do the same", stressing that "only then will Babasaheb's dream be realised".

He concluded that "only by adopting Babasaheb's thoughts will the resolve to build a harmonious, empowered and prosperous state be fulfilled", calling on people to carry forward the legacy of social justice and equality.

The message comes as the country prepares to observe Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 (Tuesday) with tributes and public programmes celebrating his enduring contributions to Indian society and governance.

Words are easy, action is hard. If six crore people have truly risen from poverty in UP, that is a massive achievement. Hope this is sustainable and not just pre-election talk. Babasaheb's vision was about empowerment, not dependency.

The emphasis on reading is crucial! In the age of reels and shorts, we are forgetting the power of books. Babasaheb's personal library is an inspiration. Let's all try to build a small home library, even if it's just 50 books. 📚

As an observer of Indian politics, it's interesting to see how Ambedkar's legacy is invoked across the spectrum. His focus on constitutional morality and social justice is a universal guide, beyond any single party or government. A timely message for all.

Harmony, empowerment, prosperity. This is the trinity India needs. But it starts with respecting each other in everyday life. Babasaheb fought against discrimination. Are we, as a society, truly living up to that? Self-reflection is needed first.

Jai Bhim! On his Jayanti, let's pledge to read at least one of his original works. It's easy to hear quotes, but understanding his struggle and intellectual depth is a different experience. His thoughts on women's rights were also far ahead of his time.
