Adam Scott confirms 'Severance' season 3 will release "much sooner" than Season 2 gap

Adam Scott confirms 'Severance' season 3 will release much sooner than the 3-year gap between seasons 1 and 2. Production begins soon on Apple TV+ hit.

"We're definitely planning on getting it out much sooner than the last round, which was three years, which is too long. - Adam Scott"

Washington, May 11

Fans of Apple TV+'s acclaimed psychological thriller 'Severance' can expect a significantly shorter wait for its next chapter.

Actor Adam Scott has confirmed that season 3 is being planned for release "much sooner" than the gap between the first two seasons, which spanned nearly three years.

Speaking to Deadline on the red carpet at the BAFTA TV Awards, where 'Severance' was nominated for Best International Series, Scott addressed fan anticipation and production timelines.

"We're always trying to shorten the amount of time between seasons, but it's more important for it to be great than for it to be fast," he said.

He further added, "We're definitely planning on getting it out much sooner than the last round, which was three years, which is too long."

Scott, who plays Mark Scout in the series set inside the mysterious Lumon Industries, also confirmed that season 3 is set to begin production soon.

However, he avoided revealing any plot details. "The only thing about telling more is it would be a bummer," he said when asked about potential spoilers.

According to Deadline, Apple had acquired 'Severance' rights from Fifth Season in a deal worth around USD 70 million. The report also indicated that season 3 was expected to begin filming in the summer.

Season 2 of the series became Apple's most-watched show at the time of release and went on to become the most-nominated programme at the 2025 Emmys with 27 nominations, winning eight awards.

As someone who's been obsessed with this show since day one, I'm glad they're prioritizing quality over speed. The intricate plot and character development is what makes 'Severance' so special. But yes, a shorter wait would be nice for our patience! By the way, anyone else still trying to figure out what the hell is going on with Lumon? 🤔

I binged both seasons in a week last month and now I'm hooked. The concept of separating work and personal life literally hits home for so many of us corporate warriors in India. Glad they're not keeping us hanging for three years again. Apple TV+ is making some seriously good content.

Honestly, I'm a bit skeptical. They said similar things after S1 and still took three years. Actions speak louder than words, Mr. Scott. But I'll still be there day one when S3 drops because this show is a masterpiece. Just hope they don't mess up the ending like many great shows do. *cough* Game of Thrones *cough*

The fact that Apple spent $70 million on this shows they know they have a goldmine. And 8 Emmy wins? Well deserved! The cinematography and score alone are worth the watch. Can't wait to see what they do with the Helly/innie-outie storyline. Hope production goes smoothly this time around. Fingers crossed! 🤞
