"Absolutely right": Chhagan Bhujbal welcomes possibility of Sunetra Pawar becoming the Maharashtra Dy CM

Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhujbal supports Sunetra Pawar as Deputy CM after Ajit Pawar's death. Sharad Pawar says he has no information on the decision.

"This is absolutely right. Under the current circumstances, Sunetra taai should indeed be the Leader of Legislative Party and Deputy CM. - Chhagan Bhujbal"

Mumbai, January 31

Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Saturday welcomed the possibility of Sunetra Pawar becoming the Deputy Chief Minister, saying it's a good decision, and people want it following the untimely death of NCP chief Ajit Pawar.

Sunetra Pawar, Ajit Pawar's wife, is likely to be sworn in as Maharashtra's first woman Deputy Chief Minister today.

Speaking to the reporters, Bhujbal said, "It is good. People want it, and our MLAs are also demanding the same. This is absolutely right. Under the current circumstances, Sunetra taai should indeed be the Leader of Legislative Party and Deputy CM."

Ajit Pawar, 66, died in a plane crash on January 28, after which the Deputy CM post fell vacant.

On NCP-SCP chief Sharad Pawar's statement, he said, "I don't know what was said by whom..."

Earlier in the day, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief and Ajit Pawar's uncle, Sharad Pawar, said that he has no information about NCP MP Sunetra Pawar's name being pitched for the post of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister.

He said, "I have no information about it (Sunetra Pawar's name for the Deputy CM post). Her party must have decided. What I saw in the newspaper today: some names like Praful Patel and Sunil Tatakare who have taken the initiative to make some decisions."

Further, NCP Maharashtra State President Sunil Tatkare refused to comment on NCP (SCP) chief Sharad Pawar's remarks.

Speaking to reporters, Tatkare said that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will make the final decision on the Deputy Chief Minister post, which fell vacant after Ajit Pawar's demise.

He said, "I don't have anything to say on this matter right now. We have a meeting, and after the meeting, we will discuss all these issues.""We have a meeting this afternoon. After the meeting, we will meet with the Chief Minister. After the meeting with the Chief Minister, we will present our views to him, and then the Chief Minister will make a decision on it. We will discuss all these things later," the NCP leader added.

This feels rushed. With all due respect to the grieving family, the Deputy CM post is crucial for the state. Shouldn't the decision be based purely on capability and experience, not just sentiment? The party needs to think of Maharashtra first.

The political drama continues... Sharad Pawar says he has no info, Tatkare says CM will decide. Meanwhile, Bhujbal is giving full support. Clear signs of the internal tussle within NCP. Hope stability is maintained for the state's sake.

Watching from abroad. A tragic situation, but interesting to see how Indian politics often has a dynastic element, even in moments of crisis. Wishing strength to the people of Maharashtra during this transition.

Bhujbal is right. In this difficult time, having Sunetra Pawar, who understands the political legacy and the workings, can provide continuity. It's not just about sympathy; it's about having someone who knows the ropes. Jai Maharashtra!

The final call is with CM Fadnavis. He must ensure the decision is transparent and in the best interest of the state's development agenda. Politics aside, we need a stable and effective administration.
