Abdullah bin Zayed receives phone call from Kuwaiti Foreign Minister
Abu Dhabi, August 9
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a telephone call from Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, during which they discussed the overall regional developments and the situation in the region.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah strongly condemned and denounced the hostile Iranian attack targeting an ADNOC tanker with a missile while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, with no injuries reported.
Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah affirmed Kuwait's full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for all measures taken by the UAE to safeguard its sovereignty and protect its security and interests.

The Gulf region is like our extended neighbourhood, and stability there is vital for millions of Indians working and living in the UAE. This irresponsible act of targeting civilian tankers is unacceptable. Diplomatic channels must be used to de-escalate before things spiral out of control. 🙏
Good to see GCC countries standing together. The UAE has always acted as a stabilizing force in the region. The Strait of Hormuz is a choke point for global energy trade, and any disruption there will hike oil prices back home in India, hurting the common man. Strongly condemn this attack.

Amidst all this geopolitical tension, it's easy to forget the human angle. The sailors on that tanker could have been Indians, as many of them are on these routes. I'm relieved there were no injuries. The entire international community must urge both sides to show restraint, for the sake of ordinary people.
