Actor Aaron Pierre has joined the cast of DC Studios' upcoming superhero film 'Man of Tomorrow', the sequel to the 2025 hit 'Superman.'

The actor confirmed the news on his official Instagram handle on Friday.

The new film will once again be written and directed by James Gunn and is scheduled to open in theatres on July 9, 2027.

The sequel is expected to bring back David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent and Nicholas Hoult as the iconic villain Lex Luthor.

According to reports by Deadline, the story will see Superman and Luthor forced into an unlikely alliance as they face a powerful technological alien threat known as Brainiac.

The role of Brainiac will be played by German actor Lars Eidinger.

Several cast members from the previous film are also expected to reprise their roles. These include Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo and Sara Sampaio. Production on 'Man of Tomorrow' is scheduled to begin in April in Atlanta and continue through the summer.

With filming set to begin in the coming weeks, further casting announcements and production updates are expected from the makers.

Meanwhile, Pierre is also set to star in the upcoming HBO series 'Lanterns', based on the Green Lantern characters, which is expected to debut later this summer.

Aaron Pierre is a great addition! Loved him in 'The Underground Railroad'. Curious to see who he's playing. Maybe Martian Manhunter? The Superman-Luthor team-up sounds very interesting. Hope the story has depth and isn't just CGI fights.

July 2027 is so far away! 😭 But good things take time. Just hope the DC universe stays consistent this time. The last reboot was messy. Gunn seems to have a solid plan. Fingers crossed!

As a long-time DC fan, I'm cautiously optimistic. The first film was good, but I hope this sequel focuses more on Superman's character and less on setting up a universe. The heart of the character is what matters most.

Interesting to see a British actor playing Brainiac. Lars Eidinger is a fantastic choice. The cast for this new DC era is really strong across the board. Hope the writing matches the talent in front of the camera.

Good news! My son is a huge Superman fan. We watched the last one together in the theatre. Already marking the calendar for 2027. Hope they bring it to Indian theatres on the same day. The wait begins!
