Mumbai, May 2

The Mumbai Cricket Association on Saturday successfully concluded the player auction for the fourth season of the T20 Mumbai League. Following the success of the inaugural Women's League auction earlier today, the men's franchises battled it out on the bidding table to finalise their rosters, blending established international stars with the city's most promising emerging talent.

The Season 4 auction saw intense bidding wars, with all-rounder Akash Parkar becoming one of the most valued acquisitions, going to SoBo Mumbai Falcons for Rs 12 lakh. Wicketkeeper-batsman Prasad Pawar (Rs 11.50 lakh) and the versatile Musheer Khan (Rs 11 lakh) were secured by Arcs Andheri in a clear statement of intent, according to a press release.

Earlier, the league confirmed a power-packed list of Icon Players who will lead their respective franchises. The roster features Indian internationals and Mumbai stalwarts, including Suryakumar Yadav (Triumph Knights Mumbai North East), Shreyas Iyer (SoBo Mumbai Falcons), Ajinkya Rahane (North Mumbai Panthers), Shivam Dube (Arcs Andheri), Yashasvi Jaiswal (Bandra Blasters), Shardul Thakur (Eagle Thane Strikers), Sarfaraz Khan (Aakash Tigers), and Tushar Deshpande (MSC Maratha Royals).

The auction underscored the league's reputation as a launchpad for future stars. Arjun Tendulkar remained a key focus, joining Arcs Andheri for Rs 10 lakh. On the other hand, young sensations Ayush Mhatre and Suryansh Shedge were retained by Triumph Knights to maintain their championship core. Ajinkya Naik, President, MCA, said, "The T20 Mumbai League continues to grow as one of the most competitive domestic T20 platforms in the country. The intensity we witnessed at the auction reflects both the depth of talent in Mumbai and the confidence franchises have in this ecosystem. With a strong core of players now in place, we are set for a season that will raise the bar in terms of quality, competitiveness and overall standard of cricket." Rajdip Gupta, Chairman, League Governing Council, added, "The auction has once again highlighted the strength of Mumbai's cricketing pipeline. Franchises have been strategic in their approach, securing a balanced mix of experienced performers and emerging talent. This combination is key to sustaining a high-performance environment, and we expect Season 4 to deliver a highly competitive and exciting brand of cricket."

The tournament is set to kick off in June, with the dates and venues to be announced in due course. Earlier in the day, the inaugural T20 Mumbai Women's League auction took place, with teenage sensation Ira Jadhav making headlines as Aakash Tigers splurged Rs 10 lakh to secure her. Thrilled to see the Women's League happening and Ira Jadhav getting 10 lakh! This is exactly what Indian cricket needs -- more investment in women's talent. The T20 Mumbai League is setting a great example for other state associations. Kudos to MCA for this initiative. 👏

Musheer Khan for 11 lakh is a steal! He's been performing consistently in age-group cricket. But I have to say, some of these base prices seem inflated for uncapped players. The league is good for development, but the financials need more transparency. Still, can't wait for June! 🔥

As a die-hard Mumbai cricket fan, this auction feels like a mini-IPL! Seeing Shreyas Iyer, SKY, and Rahane in the same tournament is amazing. The mix of youth and experience is perfect. Arcs Andheri looks particularly strong with Dube, Musheer, and Arjun. Hoping to see some exciting matches at the Wankhede! 🏟️

Interesting to see the depth of talent in Mumbai cricket. The league seems to be doing a good job of developing future stars. I'm curious to see how Arjun Tendulkar performs under the pressure of being compared to his father. The auction prices seem reasonable for a domestic T20 league.

Finally some good news for Mumbai cricket fans! The league is getting bigger and better every year. SoBo Mumbai Falcons with Akash Parkar and Shreyas Iyer look formidable. But I wish they had included more women's matches
