"97.84 lakh beneficiaries will be transferred pension amount of ₹1,423.94 cr": Bihar CM
Patna, July 10
In a significant move aimed at enhancing social welfare, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced that the state government has streamlined the disbursement of social security pensions, ensuring direct bank transfers by the 10th of every month.
In a post on X, Chief Minister Choudhary stated that a massive corpus of ₹1,423.94 crore will be distributed to a total of 97.84 lakh beneficiaries across the state. The funds combine financial outlays from both central and state government pension schemes.
"The Bihar government has ensured the payment of Rs 1,100 under the social security pension scheme on the 10th of every month through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer)," the Chief Minister tweeted.
Highlighting the scope and impact of the welfare initiative, the Bihar CM added, "Under the pension schemes of the central and state governments, a total of 97.84 lakh beneficiaries will be transferred a pension amount of Rs 1,423.94 crores. This initiative is a significant step towards providing financial security and dignity to senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and widowed women."
Earlier on July 2, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the extension of Patna Metro services to Malahipakdi, nearly doubling the operational length of the city's first metro corridor.
Following the inauguration, Chief Minister Choudhary also travelled on the Patna Metro.
With the extension, metro services will now operate between ISBT and Malahipakdi, expanding the reach of the city's operational metro corridor.

Yeh toh bahut achhi khabar hai! Finally pension timely mil rahi hai. But I wonder if all 97.84 lakh beneficiaries are actually getting it or just names on paper? Hope the verification process is strict so only genuine people benefit.
Good step by Bihar government. ₹1,100 per month is still very less for senior citizens with rising inflation. But better than nothing. Hope they increase it soon. Also appreciate Patna Metro extension - infrastructure development is crucial for Bihar.
Finally some good governance! DBT ensures transparency. My grandmother in Bihar now gets her pension on 10th without fail. Earlier she had to travel 15km to post office. Metro extension to Malahipakdi is also great - Patna needs better public transport. 👏
₹1,423 crore for 97.84 lakh people means roughly ₹1,455 per person. Mixed of central and state schemes. While I appreciate the effort, the amount is inadequate for disabled and widows. Also, how many are still left out? Rural areas have many unregistered beneficiaries.
Great initiative! Ek baat batao - metro and pension dono ka announcement ek saath? Kya connection hai? 😄 Anyway, good to see Bihar government working on multiple fronts. Senior citizens deserve respect and financial security.
