47,328 villages selected under PM-AJAY Adarsh Gram Component across the country; 435 villages in Telangana

The Government of India is implementing the Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana to promote the socio-economic development of Scheduled Caste communities through the integrated development of villages under its Adarsh Gram Component.
According to the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, "The scheme aims to ensure saturation of key socio-economic indicators by converging Central and State Government schemes and addressing critical development gaps."
Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale Shares Details in written to Anil Kumar Yadav Mandadi in Rajya Sabha. The House was informed that 47,328 villages have been selected across the country under the Adarsh Gram Component of PM-AJAY, including 435 villages in Telangana. State-wise details of the selected villages have been placed on the Table of the House.
The written reply further stated that the Adarsh Gram Component focuses on the integrated development of selected villages through the saturation of 50 monitorable socio-economic indicators across 10 sectors, including education. A need assessment survey is conducted to establish the baseline status of these indicators.
Identified gaps are addressed through convergence with Central and State Government schemes or through interventions supported under PM-AJAY. Progress made by States is regularly updated on the PMAGY Portal.
The House was also informed that, across the country, 3,28,131 development works and 1,10,51,213 beneficiaries have been identified under the scheme. Of these, 46,642 development works have been completed, benefiting 47,59,399 beneficiaries so far.
With regard to Telangana, the written reply stated that under the education sector, 3,529 beneficiaries have been identified, out of which 472 beneficiaries have already received benefits under the scheme.
Replying to the query regarding third-party audit, the House was informed that States and Union Territories have been directed to verify the self-declaration of Adarsh Gram under the PM-AJAY Adarsh Gram Component.

Good initiative for upliftment of SC communities. The education sector numbers in Telangana - 3,529 identified and only 472 benefited so far? That's just 13% 👍 sorry but that's not impressive at all. Schools need proper infrastructure, teachers need training, and most importantly, kids need to stay in school. Hope the convergence with state schemes actually works on ground.
3.28 lakh development works identified and only 46,642 completed? That's about 14% completion rate. While I appreciate the intent, we need faster progress. Also, third-party audit verification is crucial - otherwise, these self-declarations are just paper work. My village in Karimnagar is supposed to be under this scheme, let's see if it makes any real difference.
Good scheme on paper, but I've seen ground reality. Many villages just get a fresh coat of paint on panchayat buildings and call it "Adarsh Gram". We need sustained monitoring, not just one-time surveys. Also, the benefits should reach the most marginalized within SC communities, not just the influential ones. Hope Athawale ji's team ensures real change.
Interesting to see India's progress on inclusive rural development. The 50-indicator framework across 10 sectors seems well structured. I've worked on similar community development programs globally, and the key is local ownership. If the village communities themselves feel ownership, these initiatives tend to succeed much better than top-down approaches. Wish Telangana's implementation is faster.
