Srinagar, July 1

At least 30 people were injured in two road accidents in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, officials said here.

The officials said 25 people, including the driver, were injured after a passenger bus met with an accident at Kawnar, near Nasrullahpora in central Kashmir's Budgam district.

The bus was travelling from Beerwah to Budgam when the accident occurred. The circumstances leading to the mishap were not immediately known.

Before emergency responders reached the scene, local residents of Nasrullahpora rushed to the spot and launched rescue efforts. The locals helped evacuate the injured passengers from the damaged vehicle.

The injured were shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH), Budgam, where they are undergoing treatment. The condition of the injured was not immediately known.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.

In another road accident, five people were injured when three vehicles collided with each other in the Pattan area of Baramulla district.

The accident involving three vehicles happened near the Zangam Petrol Pump in the Pattan area.

Officials said the collision occurred between a car bearing registration number JK15-9826, a dumper JK15B-0013, and an SUV JK15C-8800. All three vehicles carry Bandipora registration numbers.

Of the five injured, two were referred to JVC Hospital, Srinagar, for advanced treatment, while three others were shifted to Trauma Hospital, Pattan.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and started an investigation. Traffic movement was briefly disrupted following the accident, but was later restored.

On June 28, eight Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and a civilian driver were injured in a road accident in Reasi district.

Police said the accident occurred when the bus overturned along the Tarakote route to the shrine.

Excessive speed, overloading, aggressive driving, distractions from mobile phone usage, and poor road conditions are among the factors contributing to accidents in the union territory.

The mountainous regions of Poonch, Rajouri, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Ramban, and Udhampur are notorious for roads where reckless and negligent driving results in the loss of valuable lives.

Pichle week Reasi mein CISF bus accident, ab Budgam aur Baramulla mein — kya chal raha hai? Road safety seriously ek concern hona chahiye. Overloading aur rash driving ke issues hain, but sarkar kya action le rahi hai? 25 log ek baar mein injured — it's heartbreaking 💔. Hope all recover soon.

These mountain roads in Kashmir look beautiful but are clearly dangerous. The article lists Reasi, Poonch, Doda as notorious zones. Needs better signage, rumble strips, and maybe speed governors on public transport. Glad locals helped without waiting for formal response — that's community spirit right there.

Sad to see this. As a Kashmiri, I can tell you the condition of roads in our valleys is pathetic in many areas. Potholes, narrow bends, and no guardrails. But driver negligence is also real — seen many buses overloaded and speeding like there is no tomorrow. Police ne investigation shuru ki hai, but hamein bhi responsibility leni chahiye. Stay safe, J&K.

The locals are the real heroes here. They didn't wait for ambulances, they jumped in and helped. This is the kind of unity we need in India. But government needs to step up — better roads, more hospitals in rural areas, and strict traffic enforcement. 30 injured in one day is way too many. 🇮🇳
