15 injured in earthquake in Afghanistan's Nangarhar

At least 15 people were injured in an earthquake in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province on Tuesday morning, local media Tolo News reported.
According to the report, the injured, including women and children, were taken to the Nangarhar Regional Hospital for treatment.
Authorities are assessing the situation and gathering further information on casualties and damage caused by the earthquake, Xinhua News Agency reported.
On August 19, an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 jolted Afghanistan, according to the US Geological Survey. The earthquake was centred about 35 kilometres southwest of Afghanistan's Jurm district at a depth of roughly 195.9 kilometres.
On June 27, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 hit Afghanistan, with strong tremors felt in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and several other North Indian states.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the nodal agency of the Indian government for monitoring earthquake activity, the epicentre of the earthquake was in Afghanistan, and its magnitude was 6.2 on the Richter Scale. It also mentioned that the earthquake struck at 7:04 p.m. (local time).
"Earthquake of magnitude 6.2, June 27, 19:04:51 IST, Lat: 36.442 N, Long: 70.672 E, Depth: 215 Km, Location: Afghanistan," it wrote in a post on social media platform X.
Earlier in April, at least eight people were killed in a 5.9-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan, Mohammad Yousuf Hammad, a spokesman for the Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority, said.
A house in Kabul province collapsed following the quake, killing eight residents and injuring a child, Hammad said.
Strong tremors were also felt in the capital, Kabul. The epicentre, with a depth of 186.4 km, was initially determined to be at 36.55 degrees north latitude and 70.85 degrees east longitude.
Due to mountainous terrain and weak infrastructure, Afghanistan frequently experiences deadly earthquakes that cause significant casualties. The country's ongoing humanitarian crisis has also severely hindered its ability to respond effectively to disasters.
