The flag hoisting ceremony for the "Aadi Thiruvizha" festival took place at Madurai's Arulmigu Kallalagar Temple on Monday.

Every year Aadi festival is celebrated in Madurai's Arulmigu Kallalagar Temple. Lakhs of people will participate in the Chariot on this occasion. This year's festival started today with flag hoisting.

On this occasion, the golden flagpole in the temple was decorated with reed grass and flower garlands.

Temple officials and devotees thronged the Arulmigu Kallalagar Temple to witness the flag-hoisting ceremony.

The presiding deities of the temple, Goddess Kallalagar and Lord Sridevi and Poodevi were brought in palanquins during the flag hoisting.
