Tata team visits site in Medak

Hyderabad, Oct 6 : For the second consecutive day, a team of officials from Tata Motors conducted inspection of sites in Andhra Pradesh for setting up the Nano car project.

The team visited Oragal in Medak district and inspected the land. The district collector and revenue department officials accompanied the team and explained to them the advantages of setting up the Nano plant there.

The team Sunday visited two sites in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district and later met Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who offered the company free land and a number of other incentives.

The officials in Medak district told the Tata officials that a tract of 600 acres was ready to be handed over for the project and another 600 acres would be allotted later.

Going all out to woo the prestigious project, the state government is showing several tracts of lands in different parts of the state.

The government has also identified land in Visakhapatnam, Tada in Nellore and Hindupur in Anantapur district near the Karnataka border. The team is also likely to visit these sites.

The state government has offered 1,128 acres at Sitarampuram village in Ranga Reddy district, about 40 km from Hyderabad. The Tata team also went around Aluru village in the same district, where the government showed them 1,240 acres.

The proposed sites in Ranga Reddy and Medak have proximity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad while those in Visakhapatnam and Nellore are close to the ports.

Ever since Tata announced that it was pulling out of Singur in West Bengal, the Andhra Pradesh government stepped up efforts to woo the company.

It has offered all concessions on par with Tamil Nadu. The state government Saturday announced ultra mega integrated automobile policy, which offers huge sops including 100 percent exemption from stamp duty, subsidised electricity with two feeder lines, exemption from electricity tax for 10 years and refund of gross output value added tax and central sales tax for 21 years.

The government has also offered exemptions from entry tax, VAT on capital goods, works contract tax, octroi and other state levies.
