We are not consistent: Dhoni

Guwahati, Nov 8 : India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni today blamed the inconsistency of the batsmen for the failure in the ongoing Hero Honda series against Australia.

The Indian batsmen were bundled out for a meagre total of 170 runs as the Australians won by six wickets to take an unassailable 4-2 lead in the seven-match one-day series.

''Individual players have scored but as a team we have not done well as because of that we lost some matches which should have been won, specially in Mohali and Hyderabad,'' Dhoni said in his post match press conference.

About today's match he said the pitch misbehaved badly in the first 50 minutes or so.

''If we could have held on to that time, it would have been easy after that,'' he said, adding that the pitch was two paced.

This morning, India was reduced to 27 for five by Doug Bollinger and Mitchell Johnson.

''It was too much after that. We were lucky that we got to 170.

At one point of time even 150 was looking very difficult,'' said Dhoni.

He, however, defended his decision to bat first.

''See the second innings. The ball was turning heavily and it would have been difficult to bat later also. We had a very bad game today and we played badly,'' he pointed out.

The ball was turning so much that India used nine bowlers and just nine overs were sent down by the pacers.

However, Dhoni assured that everything was not lost.

''There are more matches coming and in fact lot of cricket. We will try to reach the No 1 spot,'' he stated.
