Make appointments within districts: PDP to Jammu Kashmir government
Srinagar, Nov 8 : The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged National Conference (NC) led coalition government in the state to stop making appointments against posts in districts before rationalising the present law.
In a joint statement here today, three senior PDP leaders and MLAs Nizamudin Bhat, Syed Basharat Bukhari and Mansoor Hussain said the process for appointments against District Cadre posts were being made against public wishes.
The leaders demanded that appointments be made against district posts only from the candidates of same district.
The legislators reminded the government that the bill on the issue was under consideration of select committee.
They said any appointment made against the district cadre posts was nothing but making mockery of the institution of Assembly which had appointed the select committee on the issue.
The legislators said Mr Bukahari withdrew his private members bill on the issue during the last Assembly session after the government promised to bring a similar law envisaging recruitment against district Cadre posts within the respective jurisdictions of the districts of the state.
Expressing anguish over the government's attitude, the legislators said if the Service Selection Board was allowed to continue with the present norms it will force the youth of the state to launch a full-fledged agitation against this.
"The logic of the proposed law is fully explained by fact that the same will facilitate smooth functioning of the administration at district level and will also come as a great relief to deprived, back ward and far-flung areas," he said.
They said Kupwara district is already on the boil on this issue where youths took to the streets.
