Ponting elated winning cup with a depleted side
Guwahati, Nov 8 : With his side thrashing India by six wickets here today, Australian captain Ricky Ponting is elated over the spectacular win in the ongoing Hero Honda series even as half of the first choice XI are back home due to injury.
''This is a great feeling and we are actually laying the foundation of the future of Cricket Australia by default. India is always difficult to beat at home and we did. This is a very good advantage,'' said Ponting.
''People like Marsh and Bollinger have grabbed the opportunity with both hands and did exceedingly well. It is always difficult to come back after 2-1 down but we did and we did it in great style,'' he added.
He admitted that the emergence of a new side would help Australia build a team for the 2011 World Cup to be played in the Sub-continent.
