Mob pelts stones at police in UP district; tension hits

Muzaffarnagar, Nov 7 : Tension prevailed after the locals pelted stones at police force, following raids at the illicit kilns involved in burning animal fat in Kotwali area of this Uttar Pradesh district today.

Superintendent of Police (city)Rajiv Malhotra conducted the raids at the kilns in Kidwai Nagar locality on a tip-off.

An irked mob of locals indulged in stone-pelting at the policemen, when they damaged more than 100 kilns.

Fifteen people have been arrested for hindering the government's work, the SP informed.

The situation was under control, he added.

Police in strength have been deployed on the spot for maintenance of peace.
