Howrah gets Rupees 61 crore multi-specialty hospital
Kolkata, Nov 7 : Howrah is all set to get its first multi-specialty hospital having treatments like radio-therapy with Linear Accelerator, invasive cardiology along with cardio-thoracic surgery and other modern facilties by mid-2011 as the Westbank Group will establish their second venture in the district at a cost of Rupees 61 crore.
The hospital, initially a 200-bed facility, will be built on a total area of 1.5 lakh sq ft, and later upgraded to 400 beds, a release issued by the Westbank group said.
Chairman of the hospital Bicky Chakraborty said the new establishment will be the first modern hospital offering treatments in all disciplines for the district population outside the Kolkata metro.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director of Westbank Hospitals Ashis Chakroborty said, ''This hospital has been established with a view to making available the best medical facilities to the people in the districts. They are often the ones who suffer because of inadequate medical support.'' The Westbank group also has a plan to start free bus services to ferry patients from Howrah stations and various populous junctions in the city like Dalhousie and Sector V.
