Tragic end to fifth ODI: India lose Prabhash Joshi
New Delhi, Nov 6 : Tendulkar's magnificent 175 runs went in vain. India was not only defeated in the fifth ODI against Australia, but also lost seasoned journalist Prabhash Joshi who died after suffering a heart attack while watching the match.
The 72-year-old veteran scribe complained of chest pain while watching the India-Australia ODI at around 2300 hrs.
He was rushed to the Narendra Mohan hospital in Ghaziabad where he was declared dead, family sources said.
Joshi had a rare passion for the game of cricket.
Readers would miss this passionate cricket columnist for his lucid and analytical write ups, Punjan deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said condoling the death of the veteran journalist.
Mr Abhay Chhajlani, Chief Editor of Nayee Duniya, the Hindi daily from where Joshi started his career, expressed shock and grief at his death. Joshi did not play cricket, but he used the sport's terminology in such a way in Hindi that it became a yardstick, Mr Chhajlani said in Indore.
Joshi, founding Editor of Hindi daily Jansatta, was known for his typical incisive slantand gave a new character to vernacular journalism.
Joshi was a prolific sports writer, political analyst and a popular television commentator who would be long remembered for his thought provoking writings and qualities of head and heart, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said in Chandigarh.
