2 Indians released after four months in Bangladesh

Agartala, Nov 6 : Two Indian citizens from Tripura and West Bengal respectively returned after spending three months in Bangladeshi jail on getting release order.

Police said the Bangladesh Rifles handed over the Indian citizens to the BSF yesterday in presence of the Sub-divisional Police Officer of Belonia at Muhuripur border in the southwestern part of the state.

According to report, one Minu Das, resident of North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, along with her nephew Krishna Kumar Roy, were arrested from Subhar Bazar area of Bangladesh on July 12, for illegally crossing the border.

The duo had gone to Bangladesh in June through the Tripura border without passport to attend the last rites of one of their close relatives and were arrested on the way back home.

The victims alleged that they had been released after being fined from Feni jail after 16 days but the Indian High Commission and BSF did not cooperate and therefore the Bangladesh authorities refused to send them back to India and kept them in jail for four months.

Finally, with the intervention of Tripura administration they were released.
